If you love history and are willing to work for your grade, then you will love this class. Dr. Keyser is a great teacher. He lectures, but also uses power points to aid in note taking. His is not an easy class, but Dr. Keyser is very enthusiastic about history, so he makes it interesting. His dry sense of humor makes the class fun. Be prepared for essays and at least 4-6 map questions per exam. Also, there are some pop quizzes. Dr. Keyser is definitely one of my favorite professors.

You have to work in this course. He is an amazing teacher!! He is always available to talk to you about your grade. You take notes in every class and you must attend, but he makes it very interesting. You have pop quizzes but if you take notes regularly you'll do fine.

This is an extremely difficult course on it's own, Keyser makes you struggle through it. If you are a History major, TAKE THIS COURSE. You will love it, and it will be a relaxing/interesting course for you. This course should be labeled "History Majors ONLY."
DO NOT TAKE this course unless you know the rest of your classes are going to be completely simple. If you are not a history major, not only will you make a indecent grade in this class, but the strenuous studying required for this class will cause you to bring your other class's grades down.
He is still a great guy. He knows his history, and at times the course was interesting. I wish there was less information for this course, because he could make some interesting points in his lectures. His notes are on power point. He goes fast, so keep up.
I spent at least 5 hours every night for 4 days studying for his midterm and got a D- on it. When I confronted him about it, he said "...what you needed to do was look back in history and try to tie everything together." See history majors will love this course.

He seems like he is exteremly tuff the first day of class, and you must work to keep up in the class. However, he is a good teacher and really seems to know what he is talking about.
The essays on the test are hard.

Lots of notes. He's a good man but takes the course to seriously. If you cheat you'll do fine on the 3 exams. There are 10 quizzes, about once a week. He gives lots of extra credit. There are 14 questions on the weekly quizzes, he take it out of 10. He'll give you a 30 point extra credit essay, this should take you about 20 hours to research. The essays are crazy hard and you have to write about 10 pages.

Dr. Keyser is a great teacher. Although he may be one of the hardest, he TEACHES the material well. He has been my favorite teacher so far. He has taught me how to manage study time, and take notes. You can miss class up to 4 times, and still get extra credit for being in class. You will do fine on the tests, if you prepare for his tests a week in advance. When he says make note cards to study for tests, do it! It helps alot.

I hated this class! Pages and pages of boring stuff to read. However, I loved Dr. Keyser. All of the information that I read from the book that made me go cross-eyed, he made interesting. He was always trying to relate the information to the students, and any input that anyone had was welcome, even a joke related to the material. He was very willing to help, and practically begged the students to come by his office with their flash cards for help. He always had an outline of his lectures on the overhead, which served as sufficient notes, although a little extra would definitely help. He talked really fast, and covered a LOT of material, but he wasn't hard to follow, although you have to write fast. The quizzes were difficult, but they helped you keep up with what was being covered so you weren't so behind when the test came, and no matter how many questions, ranging from 10-14 multiple choice questions, the quizzes were always worth 10 pts, which was very helpful. The tests consisted of a few multiple choice and map questions, 2 IDs, where you have to tell all about a person, place, thing, or event, and an essay worth half the score. I didn't think I would ever get rid of the cramp in my hand after the first test. However, he gives you a study guide which is majorly helpful. It has about a hundred terms that you should know because the multiple choice and ids will come from somewhere in there, but if you know the majority, you should be okay since you get to choose your 2 ids from a list of 4 or 5. The essays are on the study guide too, although you have to know at least two before going into the test although you only have to actually do one...you just don't know which one you'll be given. He has a study session before the test where he goes over the essays and what he expects so you can be more prepared. The class was really hard, but I think that's just the class itself, not the teacher. If you go to class every day and listen to what he says, you should be okay. I really liked Dr. Keyser, and he seems a lot better than other teachers, from what I've heard.

At first I thought I was going to hate this guy, but by the end og the semester I actually liked him. Don't take him if you don't want to learn. his class is a little on the hard side, and he isn't the most interesting teacher in the world, but I think this is mostly because of the large scope of material he has to cover. He was very helpful and very likeable. his tests were fair. He would always meet with struggleing students to help them. I reccommend Dr. Keyser, but the course is no cakewalk.

Mr. Keyser knows History. He loves what he's doing and he gives you the information in a way you can understand. He's a great teacher. The only reason you'll find to hate him is when he hands you that study guide and tells you that you need to be able to regurgitate all these facts in about a week and a half. If you look over your notes right after class and make flash cards you'll be fine. There will be no cramming. I'm sure I'll come out of this class with a B (I could have done better) but that B comes with some difficulty. The book is important but basically to study, you really need to use your notes. He's extremely friendly and willing to explain everything. More than willing even, I think he derives some sick sort of pleasure from it. Ugh. Anyway, if you want it easy look elsewhere, he's here to teach something.

Keyser is very excited about this class, his own notes are in form of a large essay, making his notes that he makes for the class hard to follow he tries to give you too much information in one class. If you don't need a teacher, just someone to give you a few helpful notes and can do well on tests by reading a book this is the class for you, if not take another teacher!!!!!!

Dr. Keyser's a great guy. While his lectures may be a little difficult, if you take good notes and study them, you'll do great. It's not that you have to kill yourself studying for this class. Just show up everyday, read the book and take notes.
I highly recommend taking this class. Dr. Keyser keeps it interesting and that's always a great thing!!

Even though this was a hard class, it was very interesting and i enjoyed it. Dr. Keyser is a very good teacher, and tries to make the subject interesting. there are three essays and two big tests and a couple of finals. his class is hard, but passable. i wouldn't recommend it unless you're really interested in history, though.
