I did not like this class and I would not take him. The only reason I passed this class was because he added points to the test because so many people ware not passing it. He would stand in one spot for an hour and half and just talk. The people that I sat next to in class did not like him. He gives reviews for the tests and final and says for you to study them along with the notes that you have taken and you should do well. That is wrong, you have to read the book, your notes, and the reviews. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

First off, this class is super boring! But I liked Dr. Crawford. He gets off track alot and half the time I wasn't sure if I needed a history book or a geography book. but he's a nice guy. he curves on the tests, which are super easy anyways. If you can't get an A or B, then you aren't studying for your tests and you're not coming to class. He's kinda helpful BUT if you're someone who never shows up to class and you're failing, he won't show you the time of day.

He is horrible. I was bored out of my mind I facebooked the whole time. He prints off his outlines but when it comes to the test he says it is over the notes we tokk in class and his outlines, but when he passes out the test he says I hope you studied you book. What no if you say the test over the outline keep it that way. Out of like 50 ppl in a class like 45 failed or got a D on his test. He curved his grades so much a 45 out of 100 was a D... If you are failing his class and you ask him because you do not want to fail if you can do extra credit he says no and acts like he doesnt care you are failing... DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

I don't really know what to say. He knows his shit obviously. I didn't mind his class. I just studied the outlines and book and i was fine. hell, he curved up to 15 points on one test (he only gives 2 and a final). He even curves final grades by about 10 points. I'm a lazy ass and i still managed to get an A in the class. He may go off subject, but i enjoyed listening to that shit more than the stuff some teachers lecture about for a whole period

OH MY GOSH!!! this class is so stupid and this professor makes the class worse then what it should be. you only have three test and its over sooooo much material. you dont get a study guide or ANY hints as to whats going to be on the exam. He gives you an out line of each chapter and you could make 1000 questions from one outline alone and he tells you to just know everything for the test. And the one thing that would make me mad about his course is that more then half the CRAP that you study isnt even on the TEST!! So you waste your time learning CRAP that you wont even be tested on when you can spend your time studying the other stupid CRAP!!! DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Dr. Crawford is odd at some times, he rambles alot but he gives you outlines of all the notes and that is what is on the test. The outlines are exactly what he puts on the tests, so if you study those than you will do fine. His tests are kind of hard BUT he curves like crazy... i made B on all of my tests and i made an A in the class. Like almost no one fails the class becasue he curves soo much. He is kind of boring but take him if you want an easy A.

I really enjoyed the class. You don't really need the book as I never opened it. He hands outlines out before you start talking about a subject which really helps...You must take a lot of notes to do well as his tests are constructed exactly from them so take good ones. There are 3 test none of them are comprehensive which is nice so do well on all of them and you will be fine. Good class though...very informative.

Although the information in the class can be interesting, Crawford rambles a lot and gets off subject. He tries to make you think that he is going to take attendance everyday, but after the first month he doesn't take it anymore. There are two tests and a final in the class, but his tests are absolutely impossible. There is no point in studying for them because maybe 10% of the notes you take in class are on the test and everything else is random. I'm not even sure if the information on the test is from the book. In my class, practically everyone failed everything and he had to curve our final grades somewhere around 20 points!!

If you need a science credit and want an easy class that also happens to teach you some good things you should take Dr. Crawford's Geog 100 class. He gives out an outline before each lecture which really helps as he tends to get off subject a bit. If you study the material on the lecture outlines this class is an easy A.

Dr. Crawford is a very enthusiastic professor. His class is very easy as long as you go. His tests have 40 Multiple choice questions worth 2pts and 20 T-F questions worth 1 point each. The questions for the most part are very easy. The best thing is the generous curve. You can have a low B average on the tests and get an A. No matter how low the grades are nobody fails unless you have 20's on every test. He curved 40 averages up to a D. There is no way to fail this class if you go.

Of course geography is difficult, why do you think I recieved a C. He is very boring but explanatory all at the same time. Crawford is like the smartest person in science that I have ever met. He knows everything. His favorite topic is the continental drift, he gets so excited that he repeats hisself a lot, like everyday you hear the same thing. He really tries to help, and he even has study sessions before the test for students to ask questions. His tests are fairly simple, and his answers on the mult. choice are crazy, you can eliminate. I never studied and I got a C, so I'm sure anyone could pass. I wouldn't even waste my money on the book, you don't use it. Other than that, its an ok course.

Dr. Crawford is a fair professor. I attended his class fewer than most (which means I didn't have many of the notes), didn't bother with buying or reading the textbook. But what I DID do is to attend the review sessions that he often gives the night before the next exam. People who fail his tests must either:
a.) Not attend at all/don't care.
b.) Try really hard to fail.
Although class attendence is required, Dr. Crawford is quite accepting of extenuating circumstances, and is generally rather amiable (friendly) if you approach him in the same manner. Expect to get some feedback if you get in his face, however (I myself did not do this, but I have seen others who have).
He does have a tendency to get off topic in his lectures, but I've yet to take a test where he hasn't covered everything on his lecture outlines (which is all you're held responsible for on the tests). To be honest, when I didn't attend class, I'd just fill in the gaps of my notes with Google or Wikipedia; it isn't hard to find any of the answers, and they're generally common sense in the first place.
It seems to me that a pet peeve of his is sitting outside of your typical seat, since he uses that as his chart to take attendance, be forewarned. Other than that, I've had no difficulty with his class and generally found the lectures (when I attended) to be somewhat interesting; he seems to thoroughly enjoy teaching the class.

Mr. Crawford is a fantastic professor. I have learned so much from taking this course. He knows what he is talking about and makes it interesting for you to learn the material. To receive a good grade in this class, you must go to class everyday and take notes. He gives outlines for each chapter, but he elaborates on each outline, which is where the test questions come from. If you study the outlines, you will be fine. Just go to class and pay attention, and you will enjoy this class as much as I did. The best professor I've had at WKU so far!!

dr. crawford is an expert in this field, so try to pay attention even though some of the material is boring. he doesn't do a great job of making it interesting, but bear with him. the karst material is fun, and he knows a lot about groundwater problems. the field trip to tennessee is outstanding, so make sure you go. the tests are moderately difficult, but he is usually an easy grader. i know people who made a B on one test, a C on the other and still got an A. he is pretty fair, and since grades are not important to him you will probably get a good one.

Dr Crawford curves grades and it makes this class ALOT easier than you might think. My highest test grade was a 77 but i managed to get a B in the course. you only have 3 test all semester long. but you shouldnt treat this as a cake walk!

This is an excellent class to take. There is very little lecture and no exams. It is actually a class that takes you out into the field and shows you how to complete different types of research such as microgravity, dye traces, mapping, and there's lots more. The class may seem a little intimidating at first, but it is wonderful and I enjoyed every minute.

This is a 100 level class. The class average should not have been a D when there are 50 freshmen in the class. I had to struggle through this class and his boring lectures. There are only 3 tests during the entire course, and extra credit, which is not really worth the time. I think the only reason I got a C was because there was a huge curve. Obviously, there is something wrong with the way he teaches the class if everybody does poorly.

When he remarked that "women could come in nude" and he grabbed his crotch, I knew that to maintain my sense of morality that I could not be in his course. Do not take him, unless you do not want a respectable professor.<hr><b>Added 11/25/2003:</b>
Professor Crawford responds: "<i>This student supposedly withdrew from the course on his/her day of entry, yet he/she did not make these comments until December 15, after grades would have been given in the class. I have never made a comment disparaging to women, and I have never grabbed my crotch. Had I ever done so, I’m sure that I would have been turned in by most of the 70 students in the class and then probably fired. Student evaluations for my classes have been excellent.</i>"

Dr. Crawford is a handful. With your final grade coming from 3 test alone, you'd better study... and study... and study some more. Of course there are study sessions at odd times the night before the tests. But be prepared for the RAMBLING. He goes off on SO many tangents, then forgets where he was. Once he talked about earthquakes for 30 MINUTES! We weren't even on that subject! He just goes on and on and on. Also be ready for his Diet Coke thing. EVERYDAY he brings a can of diet coke to class and carries it around with him sometimes-very annoying. Then, attempting to grab back the lost attention of the class, he randomly says things such as

The bad things: He acts like he doesn't care about the class and is very impersonal. He goes off on tangents constantly, and don't be surprised if he tests you over it either. He doesn't show up for class frequently, without prior notice, and expects you to be there. He shows movies as a means of babysitting while he's gone. Don't worry about them, sign the role and LEAVE!!! Nit-picky tests questions are abundant!
The good things: He gives extra credit, gives lecture outlines(which are helpful), has study sessions, and curves the final grade. Very knowledgable about the subject material, but don't bother reading the book(use it as reference).
