Additional Comments
Mr Gibson is very knowledgeable about the course content. Although pleasant, he is very businesslike. He does not try to make a 400 level class out of a 100 level. He will exempt you from the final if you keep an A average in the class AND you go to three extra credit performances. Some of the performances he requires a small paper on, and some of them he doesn't. He tells you in advance and keeps reminding you throughout the semester. His tests include a listening portion where you have to identify a piece of music and match it to its composer. It's pretty easy on the first test, but gets progressively harder on later tests.

Do NOT get on Mr. G's bad side. He absolutely does not hesitate to call you out on something, be it falling asleep in class (which is easy to do when listening to music or watching videos) or talking or being late. I personally liked this about him because it made it easier to follow the lecture, but I'm sure some others would disagree. My favorite quote of the semester was when he was calling two students down for whispering: "College! College! This is college!" he said. This is all to say that he is pretty docile unless/until provoked. His tone can get pretty sharp, but at the same time, he gets over it really fast too.
