Bohlander is a great professor. He takes you on field trips to prisons and makes the class real. He is also very scatter-brained though, so expect some weird questions on the exams. Other than that, I had a great time in the class.

I LOVE Dr. Boehlander. He is hilarious and nutty and completely brilliant. His tests come mainly from the notes but with a few additions from the book. He has guest speakers which he quizzes you about, too. He is an absolutely amazing professor and if you ask him for help, he will do anything he possibly can to help you succeed. He is incredible! Take him for penology, since that will be the only thing he teaches from now on (I'm going to!).

Bohlander is great! I absolutly love this man! He is a really funny guy and obviously really cares about the material he teaches. He does have a tendency to go off on tangents, but he always finds his way back to the main topic! I would highly highly reccommend going on all the prison trips you can! They are really interesting, and probably the only opportunity you will have to go inside of a prison without being an inmate!! Take this class! Its fun!

This is by far the best teacher there is! Dr. Bohlander gets off on rants, tells stories about prisons, and did i mention you get opportunities to go on prison trips with him?! This next semester (Spring '11) is the last semester he's doing this class before he leaves WKU, so if you need an elective or just want to take this class, do it while you can. You will need to read the chapters and study your notes to pass the class, but it's not very bad at all. He doesn't require you to come, but half of the test is stuff he randomly says in the class. If you don't get to know Dr. Bohlander, you probably won't end up liking him. But if you do get to know him, you will come out of the class with a new friend.

Bohlander is an amazing teacher. He keeps you learning and laughing. He is inspiring and definately a teacher worth taking at western. He will help anyone out of class and his field trips are very interesting. Tests are so so, but if you study, they are doable. Excellent class!

Dr. Bohlander is a great professor! He is also hilarious! His class is not that hard if you pay attention to his stories, take notes, and read the book. He always puts things on the test from directly what he says so go to class. Attendence is not required but it's very important you attend.

In my humble opinion, Dr. Bohlander is the area's expert in the field of criminology and the study of prisons. He is like a walking encyclopedia of factoids and interesting stories. He is a very intelligent and interesting professor. If you are interested in learning, take his class, but if not, at least have the courtesy to sit in the back of the room and refrain from snoring. While his tests are multiple choice, they are somewhat difficult. A word of warning - you'd better read the assigned chapters because there are several questions taken directly out of the text.

Dr. Bohlander is a great professor! I wasn't particularily interested in Organized Crime...some of it is interesting...some rather boring. BUT Dr. Bohlander always makes class fun! The tests are a little tricky, but he usually curves the test if we don't do so well. TAKE BOHLANDER. You are missing out if you are a sociology major and have never had bohlander! :)

I receieved a D because basically I missed to many classes and didn't read the book enough. Not much of what he lectures is on tests, but a lot of specifics from the book are. However, many optional field trips to prisons throughout the state!! Those were extremely eye-opening and fun!

Bohlander is wonderful!!! I really enjoyed having him as a professor. He was very refreshing and I actually enjoyed the lectures. He is so funny and makes the material interesting and entertaining at the same time. Although his test are difficult, and I stressed a lot over them I will still take him as many times as possible. If you have the opportunity I would highly reccomend the "Bohlander Experience", IT'S GREAT!!!

Bohlander is an awesome teacher! I actually enjoyed going to his class and listening to his lectures...he's hillarious!!! He makes dry material intersting. His tests are a little difficult b/c his numbers (for populations and such) and the book numbers don't match, and sometimes on the test neither number is listed. If you miss a class make sure you get the notes, and make sure you read the chapters for his tests.

This is probably Dr. B's hardest class because you have to be able to apply what you know. This class requires the student to observe two courts and write papers. I recommend going to night court in Nashville-very interesting & amusing stuff. Pay attention to the Bill of Rights and the 1,2,5,6,8, and 14 admendments. There is also a field trip to the court house.

Dr Bohlander is my favorite teacher of all time. He is realistic and pokes fun at his collegues while poking fun at himself. Attendance is not mandatory but he will ask random questions about what happened or what was said during class time (which some people hate but it's like getting credit for being there) I highly recommend that students go on the prison field trips- you may see someone you know and/or get a peek at a future bunkmate.

Bohlander is my favorite professor ever. I didn't have money to but the text book and he helped me get access to the readings. He is smart and crazy. More people need to be like him. I just can't say enough. I know it killed all the conservatives in my class to listen to him go on about the real state of the world. If I had a million dollars Id give it to Bohlander.

What can I say? I love Bohlander. The man cracks me up. This class isn't really hard it's just alot of information. It is a bi-term class so that makes it alittle harder. He is by far my favorite professor I have ever had at Western. There are 4 multiple choice tests. They aren't easy but if you attend class and read the book you'll do fine. This class is very interesting and you should enjoy it if you like crime. I hate to say it, but when the class was over I was almost sad because I miss Bohlander cracking me up everyday. Take this class, it's awesome.

Dr. Bohlander is an absolute joy! He's extremely interesting and entertaining. I really couldn't say enough nice things about him. He brings up obscure and interesting topics in addition to the material presented in the text. He knows the history and current situation of prisons and jails extremely well. The field trips that he sets up are a one in a lifetime opportunity. I just love this professor and this class.

Dr. Bohlander is hilarious. He makes class very interesting and will always have you laughing. The tests aren't bad if you attend class and read the book. The last test is the hardest because you have to memorize 30 court cases. He also takes the class on several prison field trips that I would highly suggest you go to. The Eddyville Maximum Security prison was awesome. One thing that kinda bothered me about Bohlander is that he is a hardcore liberal and bashes the president all the time. I'm a pretty staunch Republican so it did kinda bother me. However, Bohlander is a funny, funny man and I can't help but like him. You'll enjoy this class.

Mr.Bohlander is a very nice man and a funny teacher. He even admits when he goes off subject but I really enjoyed having him for a teacher. You do need to STudy for the test, sometimes they are more difficult than other times. Sometimes he takes things from the book and sometimes mainly from notes and then sometimes both. So, just study as much of both as you can. He's really a great teacher.

Dr. Bohlander is a great teacher. He keeps the class interesting and is very interested in what he teaches. If you study your text book and take notes in class you will pass the course. It is not a gravy class by no means but Bohlander is great. He is also lenient when it comes to needing assistance of any kind especially with emergencies during the semester. He is there to help you learn and makes it fun in the process.

This is Dr. B's hardest class. If you are an organized crime nut this is for you but if you are looking for a class just to take, look somewhere else. Your grade comes from 4 mult. choice tests. You can't miss class or you miss information for the test and you HAVE to read the chapters or there is no way you can pass. Everything he says is game on the test and the littlest things in the chapter too.

Dr. Bohlander is one of the best professors I have had at Western. He is very passionate about the subject he teaches and has a great sense of humor. You grade is made up of 4 mult. choice tests. Although attendence is not manditory if you find it hard to get to class do not take this class. Half of the test comes from lecture and the other is from the book. You MUST read the book very carefully! Most of the chapters are very interesting so it's not bad. The field trips to the prisions are GREAT!!

Dr. B is a great prof. He will talk with and help any student having difficulties. The trips that he plans to the prisons are interesting and informing. The only hard part of his class is remembering Supreme Court cases and rulings.
