Additional Comments
After taking this professor, I am shocked that students gave him such good reviews on prof eval. All I can think of is that maybe the ones that reviewed him were all econ majors so of course they did well in the course.
Now, for the rest of you all: DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN! The subject matter of econ is abstract enough, but the way he teaches it is almost impossible. Here is the course breakdown:
4 tests, 1 cumulative final
20 multiple choice questions on each test and the final
That is all of your grade! 120 points total!
He seems to care about his students, but doesn't really. He thinks that if the WHOLE class is making C's on his tests except for about 5 students, then it is the majority of the students faults. He gives no homework, no reading assignments, and never has any idea where we are in the book. When told that a lot of the theories he covers in class are not in the book he just kind of laughed. There was no way to gauge whether we understood the material until the tests because there were never any worksheets or anything given out as homework.
The material of Micro econ is not even THAT hard, but with his test formats/wording and general format of the class, it is very difficult!
