Dr. Flynn is probably the best English professor i have had. You have 4 regular papers and 1 research paper. He grades them pretty strictly including grammar errors. The reason why i got a B is because i had some grammar errors, so i would recommend going to the writing center. Attendance is taken every class and if you miss one class, then you miss a lot. Also you have no exams or final in this class.

Mr. Flynn is an excellent teacher! He makes sure that everyone understands a topic before moving on. The class mostly consists of discussion but he makes it fun and interesting. The tests include many essay questions but they aren't too difficult. Make sure you do the assigned readings because he does give pop quizzes. I had a great time in his class!

Dr. Flynn is an excellent English professor. I found his class very entertaining and fun. I am an English major, so the reading wasn't bad for me, although at times there was quite a bit of it. Mostly, you just read and discuss. The tests are based on both reading and discussion, so attendance is pretty much mandatory for a decent grade. Flynn assigns in the ballpark of 4 or 5 papers throughout the term, and 2 group projects. He is a very easy grader (much easier than my HS english teacher!). At times, there can be a lot of out of class work, but I didn't find it overwhelming. The final is a take home and was (again) graded on an easy scale. I think most people in the class probably recieved at least B, if not an A. I would definately reccommend Flynn for any English course. He is always very understanding and willing to help you out if you're in a rough situation.

Great Professor!! Know's his stuff and has a sense of humor. He explains things well, and actually tries to get to know his students. If I have a chance, I'll def take him again. His test are moderate... they aren't overly hard.. but they aren't easy either.. Highly recommended.

Dr. Flynn is a superb teacher with in depth knowledge. He is easy to get along with and a joy to listen to. His tests are not difficult as long as you READ THE MATERIAL. But, since you are likely an English major if you have him, that won't be a problem. His tests are fair, and there is nothing on them that isn't covered in class - take good notes and you'll be fine.

Dr. Flynn was AWESOME. He has a very good personality and gives SO much time for assignments. All you have to do is keep up with the readings, short stories and stuff at the beginning for the quizzes which are super easy. I mean the class is sometimes boring but any English 200 class you take will be, so I'd definetly say at least to take it with someone who actually gets involved and cares about your grades and can help you. He's really good :)

Dr. Flynn has a great personality. The material isn't difficult and the tests are fine if you attend classes and take notes. Writing the Canterbury paper sucks though. I recommend Dr.Flynn.

I'm not a student that particularly enjoy English and was nervous about taking ENG 200, but Dr. Flynn made it very enjoyable. This guy definitely loves teaching and making the material easy to learn in a very laid back manner. All you do everyday is circle your desks around and share your opinions of what you read and that discussions don't get bogged down into some type of wild interpretation because Dr. Flynn doesn't believe too much in that.
The class is broken down into three areas: short stories, poetry, and drama. You have a test over each unit worth 50% of your grade (the final exam is over drama + some cumulative terms from the previous two exams), you have some assigned writings worth 30% (a short story analysis, poetry explication, and a play review), and then you have daily grades that are worth 20% of your average. Dr. Flynn usually just gives daily grades (basically quizzes) over the short story unit and gives lots of them for the first seven weeks until the drop date passes. However, if you read all of the material carefully you should be able to "ace" those just fine. Plus, Dr. Flynn drops your lowest two scores so you don't have to worry if you screwed a few up. Finally, he grades relatively easily so do your best and show that you care about the material and you should come out fine.
There is a moderate amount of reading to do for the class but if you space it in between the days you don't have class it'll be easier for you to do. Also, attendance is a MAJOR thing that Dr. Flynn stresses. If you come to every class and turn in all of the daily grades he adds 5% of your final average (he said meant daily grade average but since in the syllabus he said final average that helped bump people in the 85-89 range into an A). However, if you miss more than two classes you get points TAKEN OFF your final average. Therefore, get to class!
Overall, I'd recommend Dr. Flynn to anyone seeking classes in the English Department. He's a guy who really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, English instructors I've ever had.

Dr. Flynn is a really great guy. He is funny and has a great personality. There are 6 essays that you must complete and he grades them with high expectations. The major research paper is also a large part of your grade, but ours only had to be 7-8 pages long. We did have to go in for a final, but it was not an exam, rather an essay and we composed them in the computer lab, so that helped. There are no tests or quizzes in the class so your writing ability is truly what you are graded on. I suggest taking Dr. Flynn, but if you have trouble in English, visit the writing center frequently!

Dr Flynn is enthusiastic about literature. He comes with all sorts of props to demonstrate a piece of whatever culture you're reading from. Coming into his class, I felt very stupid because the English majors around me knew their stuff. They read the classics, and I don't. However I found that when it came to be test time, my grades were significantly higher. I hardly read the material, crammed for the tests, and achieved an extremely high A for the course. You will have to know the material. I found it easy to learn without obsessing over it and without spending every waking moment reading. Definitely choose Dr. Flynn. He's great. Small daily assignments including quizzes, in class group work, and short written responses. Two to three papers (which also are easy).

This class was awesome. There were only around 20 students, and we would sit in a circle every day and simply discuss. If you read the assigned readings, which can be a lot, then you will do well. Dr. Flynn loves teaching and he is very knowledgible and interesting. He wants his students to do well. This class was a challenge, but fun and I learned a lot.

Professor Flynn is not your typical professor of English. He is a very laid-back gentleman who knows what he teaches well and will go the extra mile to ensure that his students know what they should in order to achieve their goals as English majors. He's always in a good mood and will never make a student feel that what he or she has to say is invalid. Dr. Flynn is a seasoned teacher whose teaching skills have been honed and polished, which is evident in his delivery of course materials. Definitely take his courses! You'll love it.

Dr. Flynn is a great teacher who knows his stuff! Though he doesn't have an attendance policy, I'd suggest you go because he goes over quotes, etc. from the specified readings--ones that he tells you will probably be on the test. Also, he gives weekly quizzes, but they're usually announced, and you should be fine if you read the material.

Dr. Flynn is a great professor. He tries to keep the class involved, and he's a very nice guy. His tests are pretty hard. You really need to study a lot for them. The only bad thing about this class is that the material is kind of boring. However, Dr. Flynn makes class interesting, despite the boring reading material.
