Additional Comments
Dr. Hays is the only professor that teaches this class (unless you take it during the summer). I'm not especially fond of the teaching style in this class. He uses overheads to go over the problems, rather than working them out on the board like other professors. The material is pretty dry. Dr. Hays lists homework problems on the syllabus for each class day. One of these problems is highlighted and he might collect that homework assignment. If you turn in all homework problems during the course, you can receive 5 extra points. If you miss one, no gain and no loss. If you miss more than one, he deducts 5 points for every one missed. These assignments don't have to be right, just complete. There are three tests and a cumulative final. The first three tests are worth 100 pts. ea. and cover three chapters. These tests are multiple choice (difficult and worth apx. 3 pts ea.) and a problem from each of the three chapters. The multiple choice final is comprehensive and is worth 200 pts. Dr. Hays does a good job about mentioning what will probably be on the test during class. He also gives you a good idea about what problems will be on the tests.
