This is one of the worst classes I have ever had in my entire life. I have to say, first, that my evaluation of this class has nothing to do with the difficulty level. I've taken more challenging classes with better professors and enjoyed them very much because the professor was particularly adept at making you think. You worked hard and learned something - a concept that seems to escape Dr. Miller completely. I particularly enjoy the field of neuroscience, especially as it applies to clinical populations. I began this class with a lot of enthusiasm and, over the semester, saw it dwindle to the point that it became a huge chore to even sit through the class. Having said all that...the evaluation posted just prior to this one is dead on. I would also like to add, though, that the tests are some of the most poorly constructed exams ever. The multiple choice questions are worded in such a way that you really can't be sure of the correct answer - VERY ambiguous. His lecture style is absolutely atrocious as well. There is no "lecture " as most people would define it, really. He has a few slides with some pictures, and the rest is just him rambling rather aimlessly through each chapter. As a result of his total lack of organization, there are almost no notes that can be taken. Also, elaboration on the points presented in the chapter is virtually non-existent. When he does elaborate, it's obvious that he's just trying to impress us with his vast knowledge of the material and his ability to apply it to people that he knows. (Pompous, pompous, pompous.) Everything I learned in this class, I learned on my own - and so will you.
