Burch believes that bowling is of the utmost importance. His class is extremely difficult - even if you can bowl a 120 average or higher - 140 for an a (120 for girls). Burch tends to have the male version of PMS at times. He often snaps and flips out for no apparent reason. He can be a nice guy - but not when it comes to bowling.
NOTE: I've seen him bowl twice - neither of which time he hit more than 4 pins - yet he expects us to bowl a 140 on those lanes in DUC. a 140 isnt hard to bowl normally - but on the lanes in DUC which are worn down - bowling a 140 is a real bitch.
a longtime friend of mine has bowling at another time with another teacher - she says he is a much easier teacher - she has an a average and isnt required to get a 120.

Last semester, I took 6 classes and I got 5 A's and a B and my B was this class! I'm not the most athletic person in the world, but I'm not terrible at sports either. I tried so hard in this class, but it was impossible to get an A. I never missed a class, I had a good attitude, and tried my best, but I just couldn't get my average up to come out with an A. The written final at the end just made me mad. We were being tested over terms in a textbook that we never even went over in class. I don't think I ever brought the book to class b/c we never talked about in class. The whole final was over the textbook that I read through like 2 days before I had to take the test and I just don't feel like that was very fair. Nice man, but very tough class unless you bowl a lot!

Mr.Ogelsby is a nice guy at first you may think he's not but once you get to know him he's pretty cool. He walks around with a mean look on his face but you can catch him every once in a while and he'll smile..LOL but the course is pretty easy as far as the bowling part all you do from the begining of the course until like a week or 2 before finals is BOWL!! You'll learn techniques and how to score a game thats all! Then you come in each day and bowl! I'm gonna be honest the final is HARD as hell! But if you keep a good bowling average you could probably pull a B in the class like I did!!

Thinking this class would be easy was a wrong assumption. It is only difficult if you really aren't good at bowling. Girls have to average (in the tourny) a 120 and guys a 140. Otherwise you'll get a B or C in the class. There is one test and that is the final which i hear is amazingly riduclous. Don't be intimidated by him the first day. He seems like a cocky sexus jerk but ya know, I'm a girl and after the first day it wasn't bad.

This class was bowling boot camp. Oglesby is, to say the least, militant about his "sport." There is no joke; there is no fun to be had. We are here to WORK!! Hard! Bowl, because to bowl is to accomplish!
He's nuts. And every day you miss is 10 pts. taken from your final grade. He's horrible... almost as bad as Joyce Wilder.

Dr. Ogelsby is an excellent bowler and a good instructor for how to bowl. The first part of class teaches bowling, while the second is a major part of your grade as scores are kept. The class was somewhat fun and enjoyable. However, there is the potential for stress since a 140 score is needed in the scoring part by itself for an A if one is a male as I am. Get on his good side with some good talk about Democrats, but avoid his bad side which he can flash. My score was 112, but the final exam and attendance brought that up. The final is tough but there is a helpful study guide. Study the definitions in the back of the book. The tricky questions require remembering past things he has said also. Be sure to ask him for clarifiaction on some questions.
The class is not difficult in work but kind of tough with grades and attendance is necessary. If you attend, you will probably get at least a C. But only 17% get A's. So, don't sign up expecting an A unless you are a good bowler. I was seriously blessed to get the grade I did.

Oglesby thinks bowling is the most important course at WKU. He gives a 100 point final over bowling terms that was very difficult and also requires a 120or140 bowling average for an A. If you miss one class, you are in trouble and he is an extreme smart alek. Do not take Oglesby if you are wanting an easy A, which bowling should be, but not with him.

The final is HARD. This is not a class for an easy A. I think the final was the most difficult test I've ever taken. It was very specific and the true/false questions were very tricky. Oglesby is a nice guy. Take his class.

Dr. Oglesby is very helpful in proper bowling instructions. However, the tournament bowling average portion of your grade is based on an average of 140 (guys) 120 (girls). For me this was very difficult to reach and I feel that athletic ability shouldn't be measured as high as it is.

He'll tell you the first day that people call him ogles-bitch, but he's not that bad. The average that you have to bowl is kinda high, but if you go to every class then the average that you have to get is 10 points lower. The final is 100 questions that you will have to learn from the book. Its ok though because he gives you a guide to study for the final.

This is not a simple class. If you're not already a good bowler, I would not recommend this class. You have to bowl a 140 average for an A. There is a mandatory 100 question final that is really hard.
