This class was a load of crap. Professor Russel Jacques is the worst instructor I have ever had in my history of attending SLU. His grading rubric deviates from the University's policy, he does not follow the syllabus and he intentionally makes the material harder to understand and makes his courses harder to pass. For example, he does not award full credit for discussion posts and homework assignments, even if the answer is correct and on time. He does not communicate well to students, he does not clearly explain the details and instructions of assignments, and when a student asked him for help, he outright refused and intentionally did not help the student. He changed the requirements of the course, and did not tell the students. That is why all of our grades are so low in this class, and the class average is 77%. It's almost as if he feels he is above the rules of the university, or he does not care about his students. He is a joker and does not take his role as an instructor seriously. I would have withdrawn from his class, but it was too late in the semester. He is the least helpful instructor I have ever had in my life. I would understand if my issues were due to a lack of effort, or if they were due to me not understanding the material. However, I completely understand what the course covers and my personal effort is second to none. This instructor deviates from what is taught in the textbook, and requires a ridiculous amount of internet research, and copy-and-pasted material which is easily found online. This violates the school's policy on copyright infringement, but Russel Jacques explicitly tells the class to only do research on the internet, and steers the students away from the text book. His feedback was not helpful at all, and he tried to over compensate for his poor job as instructor by sending mass emails on a weekly basis. The problem with his emails is that they did not pertain to the material, nor did they give any details on the weekly assignment. Instead, it was newsletters and other articles that only the instructor found useful. Russell Jacques is an embarassment to SLU and he should be terminated, or at the very least relieved from all teaching duties at once.
