Hoover is by FAR the worst professor i have had in my college career. She is old and scenile, every one of our class meetings consisted of her reading in front of the class directly from the book with little or no discussion. I cant believe they hired this woman to teach! There are way better teachers out there to take instead of her.

Not that this class was overly difficult but if you have to take it, take it with someone else!!! Hoover wrote her own book so she's insane about the reading and the tests are hard. Each test covers 6 chapters, which is crazy, and there are 2 30 min. discussions that she is very unclear about. My group busted our asses and we all got C's...along with most of the class. She favored 1 group so they got good grades on everything, yey them. I would just say that you shouldn't waste your time with her when there are better professors for the course out there.

If you hate public speaking, take this course instead! You get the public speaking credit, but it is much easier! I took this course via the web, and it was not very difficult. Dr. Hoover grades fairly easily and is always willing to help out when you need it. She also replies to e-mails VERY quickly. There are a lot of postings and things you have to do, but they are not very difficult. For the midterm and final, you have to do an essay instead of taking an exam. There are only two speeches throughout the semester, and they are video recorded and mailed to her. You have to have an audience of three shown in your video, and one speech is informative and the other persuasive. This was a very good course, and I actually learned a lot. This is an easy opportunity for an A if you do all of the work. I would recommend taking Dr. Hoover! She's great!

Dr. Hoover is excellent if you are scared of public speaking. She is very sweet and always willing to help. For the midterm and final make sure you study the guide she posts. That's the test.. know that and you will do fine.

This class is more than just a required course for the MA program...it is incredibly valuable. I also couldn't think of anyone better to teach it. Dr. Hoover knows her stuff and shares her knowledge willingly with her students. She is helpful, friendly, and passionate about her beliefs. This is definitely one of the most interesting classes I've had in the Communication Department.

Dr. Hoover is a tremendously good teacher. Her assignments are fair and well constructed. She is also one of the most actively helpful professors that I've encountered during my college experience. This is a very challenging course, and it is required for the MA program. However, I could think of no one better to teach it than Dr. Hoover.

Dr. Hoover is a little old lady who is very sweet. You only have to do two speaches, an interview, and a group discussion. You do actually have tests over the book material.
