Take it from me, do not miss the class - or if you do, try not to miss too much. It makes a world of difference. Dr. Norman is such a nice professor to and is willing to help you out if you need it! The class is also surprisingly more interesting than I thought it would be! Also, the textbook is not needed for the course; however, make sure you take good notes. Even though I got a C, I totally deserved it b/c I missed several classes in the beginning...I probably could have had an A though if I would have tried as hard in the beginning as I did in the end of the term.
