Additional Comments |
I understand that in a survey course it is necessary to require a great amount of reading, but I think that the reading required for this course is a bit of an overkill. The argument that a student is in college and therefore should have no problem studying and reading 8 hours every night is lame, considering that the United States government and parents in general don't seem to care as much any more whether students go to college, so most of us wind up working 20-40 hours/week to keep our heads above water. And not all of us can read at work! I don't feel like I learned anything in this course, or at least I learned a tiny bit about a lot of things and a lot about NOTHING. If you MUST take a survey in literature, find another professor to teach it. Rutledge's course is OVERKILL.
