this lady is quite a weird professor, she laughs at grammer puts you in groups and expects you to teach yourself so to speak, I think she is fairly lazy compared to other professors and offers very little help. Her grades are awful shes an ok person but is very rude to her students if they need help.i wouldnt recommend her if you know whats good you will not take her.

There are no exams in this class, there are just 4 papers that you are required to write. She assigns you to groups the first few days of class, and you will do everything in this class with your group. There are little to no notes in this class, and missing class will not hurt your grade at all.The only day I would suggest going to class is when there is a draft workshop for papers because people in your group are very helpful in critiquing your papers. There are three presentations that you will do in the class, but two of these are very informal, and one you will do with your group. The only book that you are required to have is the pocket style manual and then a book choice of your own based on your major. Overall, this is a VERY easy class and easy to pass with her teaching it.

I guess to some people she is a good teacher, but my class didn't really have a good experience. She does not tell you your grade in the class, ever. The lectures she gives are really boring, and its hard to get participation out of the class, She asks difficult questions, and if you do take her, READ EVERYTHING. If you are not prepared to take on an overload of work every night (aka a book a week) with a rather difficult 10 point quiz after every reading assignment, then do not take this class. For a gen-ed its not worth your time.

The class is well-formatted; it uses a circle-style discussion almost every class based around readings that should be done ahead of time. Attendance is not required, but is important--I would have probably got an A had I had the experience of the discussion (my attendance faltered for a while), which adds to your understanding of the reading in a way that can not be done on your own time. The only problem with the discussion is that Dr. Reames speaks too much in what is billed as student-led discussion and does so with too much repetition. Tests are some of the most stressful I have had and are closely graded, but they will not sink you because there are quizzes and a term paper.

There are very few requirements for this class being that it is at the 300 level. We read one novel, did group presentations over the novel and rules of grammar and were required to write five papers. Our final paper, which is where the biggest portion of your grade comes from, is a research paper over any topic in your concentration. It had to be at least 10 pages which included your works cited. I actually had fun writing this. The professor is very helpful which is always a huge plus. I highly recommend her.

Before this class, I had no confidence in my writing. In fact, I barely made a C in my English 100 class. But In her class, I made an A on every paper. I don't think she's concerned with students making their papers sounding all pretty with big words, but getting to the point with enough details and examples. We did have to read a book and discuss it in class, but her choice of the book was interesting to me. We also had to do a presentation on punctuations. As long as you participate, you get full credit. Easy! She assigns you into groups to revise each others papers, and this is beneficial if your group members show up. A ten page paper is required at the end of the semester. I didn't do the full 10 pages, but still got an A. I highly recommend her. It's a laid back class.

First off, Dr. Reames seems nice and is at times very funny. You will have to read a useless book which the book store does NOT buy back. Lots of papers. Last paper is a 10 pg paper. I did good in her class up until the last part. I recieved a C on this paper, not because my poor writing skills either. When i asked to meet with her during finals week...she gives me a 10-15 min. time slot before my other final. I dont recommend her.

Dr. Reames was not originally scheduled to teach this course, but she was excellent. Most of the class is discussion and you read about a book a week.
She does have an attendance policy, but it was pretty lenient. I missed 5 or 6 classes and had no trouble keeping up and still made an A.
Tests are usually in two parts: 1. In class portion: around 5 short essays(about 2-3 paragraphs) and 2. Out of class portion: multiple choices for a longer, more detailed essay.
I would definately reccommend this class for anyone looking for an upper level Lit. credit. It's pretty easy, the books are great, and if you have a good class, the discussions can be really interesting.

Typical student-led/circle discussion set-up. Really, you could get away with never reading a thing aside from tests and quizzes. There are a couple open-note quizzes which sound easy but are really a nightmare due to the mass of material covered. Quizzes are pretty easy. Tests are a bit of a pain. There's a section a where you have to name the author and title to quotes given. Another section is short answer (about a paragraph). The final section is in essay format. Dr. Reames is a good teacher, the open-note quizzes are rough, and the tests definitely require some study time.

Dr.Reames made a potentially treachorous class into a pretty fun experience as the majority of class days were spent sitting in our groups and chatting while she discussed assignments with each individual group. Dr.Reames is a fun, easy-to-talk to, and very helpful instructor that doesn't want to make the class any harder than it needs to be. There are no tests in the class as it consists of writing several small papers leading up to a big paper (which is only about 8 pages long.) If you have your drafts on time, she'll give you credit and I don't know of anyone who got anything below an A on their final drafts. Dr.Reames will help you with whatever you need help on and if you follow her advice, you won't have any problems.
Dr.Reames is the best English instructor that I've had at WKU.

Dr. Reames is a great english professor-this class can be difficult under the wrong teacher, but she makes it painless and simple. The big project, as in every English 300, is a research paper; but she structures the class to make the paper as easy as possible. You have to go to class, but past that, it's really simple. Would recommend to anyone who has difficulty writing, or to good writers looking for a class that doesn't waste your time doing useless stuff. Great class.

Dr. Reames is willing to go out of her way to help you. If you simply keep up with the reading you'll be fine but you MUST keep up with it, and you will probably read at least 100 pages a week, sometimes more. If you know how to write a good essay, you will be fine in this class. I found that if you just showed interest and tried to come up with a unique argument in your paper, Dr. Reames respects that you are at least putting in time and effort for her class, and she will reward that.

You read a lot in this class, but the reading is interesting for the most part. The tests consist of ID's, and essays. You have some quizzes and some are open-note. You do a lot of group work on the shorter reading. Somewhat boring, but it's a fairly easy course.

Dr. Reames seems like a very nice person. She is very helpful with papers that you have to write, which is 3. However, if she got to pick the short stories and poems that were read this semester, than I believe that she picked the most boring stories ever. She is a fair grader, and all in all I think that she is a good teacher. I enjoyed her class except for most of the stories.

Some reading assignments and in-class exercises seem a bit trivial, but really do help with writing papers. There are 4 out of class papers and 2 in-class. She isn't too tough on grading. I only say this course was moderately difficult because there is at least one reading every night, and most of the time there are more than one. In this class it's easy to let yourself slip behind because there aren't any reading quizzes, but as long as you stay caught up with reading (and read fairly carefully) you will do well on the tests. The tests are shorts answer and essay, and are not really difficult providing you've read and attended class. She is very nice and will meet with you to talk about your out of class writings. I would recommend her. Also you'll have to post 8-10 discussions on blackboard about the readings, but you have all semester to do so.

The professor and I didn't really click but overall it wasn't a bad class. We only had one or two semi-short readings for homework and then discussed them the next class. I hated sitting in a circle (I think it promotes boredom) but I did enjoy all the group work we did. She assigned creative discussion topics to each group that actually prepared us for the test. The test consisted of quotes (not difficult ones if you've read), short essay, and a long essay. She gives choices of the essay and you get to pick just one. My biggest complaint was how difficult she graded the papers. If you had any grammar mistakes you couldn't get an A. So just proofread it a million times!

This class was easy. But, do NOT write any papers revolving around anything involving abortion unless you are pro-choice. If you feel any other way about it, you will be graded lower than if you were for it. She grades based on her opinion and whether she agrees with it or not; not on the quality of your paper. Otherwise, this class was a breeze. No tests; No quizzes; Just 4 in class papers and 4 out of class papers, with none being longer than 5 pages and discussions in class.

Dr. Reames is very good about telling you exactly what you need to do on every paper. She is clear about her expectations for you and she holds true to her word every time. She is not so personable that she would ask you about you goals in life, but she is nice. She is willing to help and her class is easy to understand if you pay attention. She grades alittle harsh on in class essays, but overall she is fair. She has hard papers that require you to do reseach and write up to 4 pages. - She's a good teacher :)

Dr. Reames is overall a nice teacher. Sometimes it can be hard to get an A from her on a paper if that is what you're looking for. However, she is always open to people coming to her office or e-mailing her for help with papers. I e-mailed her several papers and ended up with A's on them. We had to write 4 in class and 4 out of class. There was no final, just a portfolio where you chose 2 pieces from those you had already written. We also finished class a week early. In case you don't do well on the papers she also gave us some points for attendance, class participation, and a couple of short readings.

Dr. Reames seems to be a nice teach, but she doesn't really show her personality in class. In fact, she hardly talks to her students unless it is lecture material. Tests are somewhat difficult. I felt that this class was merely an extension of a high school honors course. There is an assigned group presentation, but it is not difficult and can, at times, be enjoying. Ms. Reames tries to be interesting and lively, but she asks questions that don't really lead to active, helpful participation. This is her first semester teaching, so I feel bad by saying anything negative. I feel that she will find her niche and she will eventually be a wonderful teacher. She certainly has the students in mind as she structures her class. There are a number of course readings, and most of them are, at least, halfway interesting. I'd give this teacher a try, at least. I feel she has potential.
