Additional Comments
It is true that Dr. Weston is soft-spoken. It is also true that since the classes are so focused on discussion and not lecture that they can seem a bit rambling. But Dr. Weston is such an open-minded, intelligent, likeable person; she has awesome insight.

You will have a hard time taking notes, but just crack open your anthology and write in the margins. Don't be afraid to write in your book! Well, if you want to resell them then don't write in the book. But you will be able to use your books and notes on the finals. I'm digressing.

I think Dr. Weston is great. And I was not the only person who really liked this class. She does take a while with the papers. True. But she gives great comments on our papers. Did I mention how stinking smart she is? And nice? And the reading load isn't bad.

This is not a hard class. And you might make some friends along the way. And you just might come away with a new appreciation for British literature -- I know that I kind of like some of British poetry, which is saying something.

You might or might not like her, but you should. Just don't freak out that this is not a lecture class, or that you spend a great deal of time on old poetry, or that you can't always hear what she says. Here's my three-point plan for your success:

1. Enjoy the discussions and add to them and make fun of people like me who say dumb things.

2. Expand your mind with the poetry. I'm not a poet, but I did two papers on old poems which I found to be quite groovy.

3. Sit up front to hear her -- or turn up your hearing aid. It's so worth it.

Basically, Merry Christmas. Give her a chance, don't listen to the negatives, and just soak it all up like a sponge on the white cliffs of Dover. Yah baby!
