Additional Comments |
Dr. Pope is one of the absolute worst professors I have ever encountered. I had her in an online course and thank god I never had to meet her in person. She is a hateful, condescending, snarky woman who is convinced she knows everything and all of her students must be completely incompetent, because that's how we get treated. Her class is near impossible to get through because she tries to cram in a face to face class worth of material into an online class, which does not allow us adequate time to learn anything or study much at all because you jump from one chapter right into the next. Her tests are horrible, she will ask you questions over the most nit-picky details from the chapter and leave out more relevant and important information. I actually went to the library and copied the entire 3 chapters for each test and highlighted almost everything; I still failed the first two exams. On every test we had at least 3 questions got thrown out because they were not worded well; I'm convinced she does this deliberately. She gives a quiz every week over each chapter and has you do discussion board activities sometimes, and also two paper assignments. These things were all that prevented my grade from being completely terrible. And don't expect a break from her...ever. She does not give extra credit and if you miss something, you're screwed. Even if you are sick there is no mercy. Her syllabus actually says she expects her students to "push through the drama that comes into their lives." That's all well and good but it's not like all we do is sit around and think of ways to blow off class. People get sick. I emailed her several times through the semester; she was nasty in all her replies and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to answer anything. I was almost scared to ask her for anything because of the rude reply I would get in return.
I know it sounds like I am ranting, but DO NOT take this woman unless you have no other option. She is just another one of those bitter professors who takes pleasure in watching her students struggle rather than trying to help them out. She should not have a teaching job period because clearly she cannot handle what it involves.
