This class is centered around a big group project.
NO FINAL!
Mize-Smith is sweet, nice, and a good teacher. You can tell she really likes her job and students. I suggest her for sure.

I absolutely hated this class, I know that it is a required course for some COMM majors but if you can, take it online. The project required for the course is way too much work. I would say this course would be comparable to a graduate course instead of a JR level comm course. The work load she gives is way too strenuous. I hated everything about this course. Although Dr. Mize-Smith is a very nice person I would NOT RECOMMEND taking her as a teacher.

Dr. Mize-Smith is a wonderful teacher. She is one of the sweetest teacher I have ever had. Her test are a little to much application then what I can handle since I am a hands on learner, but do-able. The service learning project (which is a huge chunk of your grade) is all semester project. You better hope you have good group members. Overall she grades a little tough but I will certainly take her again.

She is amazing...so nice and down to earth. take her for anything you possibly can!
her tests are not that hard if you study and know your NOTES!
the project is a big paper and is broken down so it is manageable!
take your computer to class to take notes, there are a lot of them and it takes too long to write them all

I took this class looking for some real world experience! Well I did a LOT of the work in my group and had a BLAST! She loved our group because we were devoted to our cause and by the end of the semester all of our group members were hanging out outside of class! If you are looking for a class that you can just show up to and do no work this is NOT the class for you, even if you fail every test you can make at least a B by getting an A on the 650 point group project that takes the whole semester! I Loved her and if you are open minded and give interaction in class she will love you too!

This was her first time teaching this class. There is a big project at the end of the semester. If you went to class and understand her tests (which mostly came form notes) then the project is a breeze. It is actually helpful when studying for her final. The final was half cumulative, which she provided a study guide for, and half new material, usually 3 chapters. I would and have taken her again. Just don't get on her bad side, meaning speak up in class, ask questions, and stop by her office once in a while.

Super easy class with not so easy tests. It's all common sense, but she makes the tests a lot harder than necessary. There are a lot of bonus opportunities, which helped me out a lot. You also have to write a research paper. Overall, a really boring class...but I survived.

Easy class, tests are cake, just need to read over chapters and look at power points. Group presentations were required, she expected the groups to teach the class the last half of the semester. Every day she gives a power point presentation over the chapter, but when the groups do that she counts off. Very unfair. But a very easy class.
