you have to attend his class, he is very lenient on that subject..but all the homework is done on MathXL which is a website, and its not a lot and he helps you if you have problems. we had 3 tests and a cumulative final but its not hard if you pay attention to him!

I enrolled in this class because it was the lowest requirement for my major. To be honest, I was bored many days and felt unchallenged, but that is my fault for not going into Calculus II. He uses MathXL for his homework assignments which I like because it saved me paper and gave it directly to him so I wouldn't forget to bring it to class. He gives you study guides for the next tests and his tests are pretty easy. I received the highest scores in the class on them. It goes over the basic elements of math that even I had forgotten, so it keeps up with the "hype" of math. He shares some experiences of his own and even lets you out early. Also, if you perform well on tests, he might recommend you for a Math Major.

This class is either hard or easy depending on you and math. Dr. Tarrent is a great techer and he will help you anyway possible. If you do poorly in this class it is most likely not becuase of him of his teaching. His tests are usually short so the problams count for a lot. The final was long and cumulative. He provided us with a review sheet for the final, but it only covered maybe 1/3 of the material. The book isn't needed. He reads out of it maybe twice but mostly summerizes what he wants to say. The entire class is note taking but he only goes as fast as the class wants him to go. A graphing caculator is needed, but you can borrow one form the math lab if you dont have one. The book is useless and heavy but the MathXL password is priceless.

I took the calculus class in sections. The teacher that I had for the first section was wonderful. I made an A in her class easily. The second section that I took with Tarrant was awlful. I am pretty good in math, especially since I am majoring in it. He teaches all theories and analogies, he doesn't focus on the actual problems much. When he does problems they are easy, but when you get to the homework or tests then it's a whole different story. He is the WORST math teacher that I have ever had. Before I had never made lower than an A on a math test, but taking him I ended up making C's and B's. It was horrible. I recommend not to take him. I did ask for help from Dr. Biles, he is a really good teacher. Definitely don't take Tarrant.

If you are looking to get into calculus, take Dr. Tarrant. The only thing more impressive than his intelligence is his teaching skills. The best math teacher I have ever had. He is very willing to help when you need it and makes sure that you understand everything. I know what you're thinking... what's this kid talking about he made a B in the class. The B was because I slept through half of the final, due to an alarm clock malfunction (every student's nightmare.. right?) So in conclusion... take Tarrant and set your alarm for 7 AM and not PM.

Dr. Tarrant is truly gifted in teaching, which was apparent throughout this most difficult of mathematics courses. He came to TEACH (not to write at the board and ramble), often stopping to provide examples and to spur the class on to think- and making sure things were clear (he could detect a glassy stare a mile away.) His office was our home (virtually) where much of the class would assemble to make sense of the homework assignments. He generously offered us his time in and out of class. If you take his class, be prepared to THINK and KNOW the material. You will have someone here who is passionate about mathematics and who loves to teach it.

I had Dr. Tarrant for Calc 1 and again took him in Calc 2. I and seven fellow classmates enjoyed our experience with him last semester so much we decided to take him again. To put it plainly, Dr. Tarrant is the best teacher I have ever had. He's young, sensible, willing to help you however he can including plenty of opportunities for extra credit. If you do not do well in his class, it is nobody elses fault but your own because he is an excellent teacher!

Dr. Tarrant is an excellent teacher. I would highly reccomend him. You will have 3 tests and a final. There is also quizzes about once a week, and they come straight from your homework, so if you do your homework then she should do well on the quizzes.

Dr. Tarrant definately knows what he is talking about. However, sometimes he has difficulty relaying that to his students. His tests are much harder than his reviews. Keep up with the homework he gives you and you will do well. The weekly homework quizzes help your grade tremendously. One of the better math professors here at WKU.

Dr. Tarrant is the best teacher I have ever had. I learned so much in his class. I am a bad math student and because of him i passed with a B. He makes things so easy to understand and is willing to help with anything you have a problem with. The best teacher in the math department as far as i am concerned! Take him for anything you can!

You take three main tests and a cumulative final. He makes this class as easy as possible by giving you homework quizzes at least once a week, but the thing is he tells you exactly which problems and sometimes even goes over the answers in class before the quiz. All you need to do is pay attention. He will also spend hours in his office helping students with problems outside of class.
