Dr. Madole's class was my first upper level psychology class. This is different than intro, folks. The class is geared toward majors. We had to read a lot, but my friends tell me to expect even more reading in the 400 level courses. Although the amount of work was a shock, I loved the class and Dr. Madole is fun and keeps you awake. If you can't hack this class, you really should change your major.

The workload for this class is overwhelming. You have to read 40-50 pages out of the textbook each week and take a blackboard quiz on it. The quiz is 20 questions and it is timed. You can retake the quiz 3 times but the questions are very specific - some with facts that aren't significant such as statistical information. If you don't mind reading that much a week, you will be fine but if you hate reading out of a textbook, I don't recommend this class. The unit exams are typically 4 short answer questions. She gives you 10 review questions and will pick 4 of those to be the exam. The exams are very difficult and she grades them hard, wanting specific details. The content the class covers is interesting but you go over it so fast it's hard to retain it all.

At the beginning of the year, I found this class easy and enjoyable. We had one blackboard quiz each week and one class quiz each week. She posted the questions that would be on the class quiz before the date of the quiz. I was doing okay. I could study and make decent grades. Near the middle of the semester though, I could study, know the material, write the correct answer and only make grades that were like 7/25 and 12.5/25. I don't know why this happened, but it truly effected my grade.

She has a tendency to talk over your head and give you way more information than you really need. She forgets everyone in the class doesn't have ther PhD.

Dr. Madole is experienced in her field, and a nice professor. While attendance is not mandatory, she gives pop quizes quite frequently, so reading the book or going over the notes is a good idea. She is a more difficult grader than one might think; I did well in the class, but had to work at it. Make sure to complete the reviews she provides for exams, she pulls the test right from them!

This woman is the worst teacher at WKU. She makes this class sooooo much harder than it should be and is a bore to listen to in class. I have taken lots of psy. classes and done great in all of them but not with this horrible teacher. Whatever you do DO NOT take her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a very easy class if you can figure out how to study for her exams. She gives a study guide but her test has 11 minor essays and you have to answer 10. She knows what she wants to hear and you better give her what she expects to see. She is very funny and offers tons of extra credit. There are a lot of notes but they're posted on the net so it's no big deal really.

I found this course to be a little more challenging than most 300 level courses I have previously taken. A number of people appeared to be having difficultes as the grades posted on her website show. Dr. Madole is enjoyable and little corny at times, but the good professors generally are. The class has three exams which are 10 questions which are mostly essay, but a few are short answer. By essay I mean a good 5 to7 senntence paragraph. The questions come from a study guide of some thrity odd questiona available online. Honestly, you prepare these in advance, and study them for maybe 45-minutes for three nights prior to the exam, then there is virtually no reason you shouldn't get an A on the exam. Dr. Madole will even look over your answers in advance if you do with enough time before an exam. The hardest part about the exam is maybe the 55 minute time frame to do it in, but most do not have a problem with this. There some quizzes on two articles that require being read as you will also have a paper due on each. The quizzes themselves are easy as two classes are spend discussing the articles The papers are the same as a test grade and are about 3-4 pages (1/2 article summary, 1/2 anaylsis). Finally there is a cumulative final at is only 40% the value of a test (40 pts.). Notes for the class are available online so note taking is easier, but you do want to expand upon them to help prepare for exams. I quit printing out the notes because it was a lot of paper (the are powerpoints with 30-90 slides) and I wasn't writing much, which made things difficult.
Overall, I found the class interesting and enjoyable. I would probably not recommend this class to most people as it does require more work that most people appear willing to perform.

This class could've been a lot easier than what she made it. Every test was essay and you better know your info perfectly or she takes off... a lot. She does give study guides, but you end up studying like 18 essays for a 5 essay test. Dr. Madole was a nice person and she knew her info. But if your looking for an easy A, look else where.

Dr. Madole knows so much about Child Psychology. She gives you a study guide for the essay tests. If you fill out the study guide and know the information backwards and forwards the tests are still very difficult. She says that she will give you extra credit, but so far this semester she has not given any extra credit to our class. She grades really tough. Overall the class is interesting, but demands an enormous amount of time.

this was the worst class that i have ever taken. her notes killed you. pages upon pages. no multiple choice or anything all short answer and if you left out one word then she would count off like 3-5 points. your grade would just go down from there. it was the worst!!! i wouldn't reccomend it to anyone!!

Mrs. Madole likes to be very critical when grading papers. She gave me a low grade on a paper because of grammar. I then took the paper to my English teacher and she said nothing was wrong with it. I have never figured that one out , but told Mrs. Madole that I did not agree with her grading policy and that I would take from another teacher. Her lectures are interesting, but she doesn't grade on paper content and the essay tests are hard.

Kelly Madole was a really good teacher. She made class interesting and she was very nice and understanding. It was alot of work but she makes it easy. It is mostly lecture but there are several different papers due. There are several 21 question multiple choice quizzes and a midterm and final. The midterm and final are essay exams but she gives you the questions the first few days of class. Be prepared to study and work on papers, but overall, if you are interested in psychology, take dr. madole.

I had a REALLY easy time in this class because we learned things that I had mostly learned in developmental psych. at another school. I stayed in class because I thought we might study some different things, which we did. First of all, since I am really interested in child psychology, I really enjoyed this class. She has a lot of interesting research experience and stories to tell. The midterm and final are essay only and you get to pick 5 out of 15 questions (I think it was) to do. They weren't very difficult if you studied, and I got an A on both exams. She gives you all the notes, but you do need to take notes on research she cites in class because there will be test questions about them.

This course was very interesting to me. I think anyone who has children (or even plans to have them) should take this course just for the knowledge.
Dr. Madole gives you the opportunity to gain up to 20 pts. extra credit, and it is fairly easy to finish. This will tremendously help your grade! Her quizzes are all multiple choice, and they aren't pop quizzes -- you know when they're coming! There are 2 papers throughout the semester. There are also 5 short 1 page article summaries you have to do. The midterm and final are essay. However, she gives you the questions beforehand, so if you study them and know them you will do fine on the exams. On the exams she breaks the questions up into 5 sections and each section has 3 questions in each and you only have to answer one of the 3, so it is fairly easy.
The only negative thing about Dr. Madole is that she seems somewhat unorganized and doesn't hand papers and things back until way after you turned them in. Overall though I think she is a real good instructor.

I am not going to take a class taught by her, again. Dr. Madole is very disorganized. Her class website was never up dated. She never returned any papers in a timely manner. There were 5 brief papers, one paper due a week for five weeks. The first was not graded or returned untill the five weeks were over with. There are also two larger papers, which also took weeks for her to return. There are 6 quizes (multiple choice), and the lowest quiz grade is dropped. The mid-term and final were essay. Each one covering about six chapters.

Madole gives 6 quizzes and drops one. the quizes are 20 questions and they are very hard. There are two exams and they are all essay questions. She does not give you any idea what the questions will be either. I wrote a page for each question and made a low C on the test. This class is very hard unless you know alot about psychology before taking this class.

Dr. Madole is a very sweet person, but if you want an easy grade do not take this class. She says attendence often gets you a better grade but I attended all but 3 times and I still made a C. Take an easier teacher if you want an easy grade, but Madole is really nice. To do good on the quizes you have to go to class and read the long Chapters.

Dr. Madole is a good teacher. Her class is fairly easy if you put a little study time into it. You have quizzes every other week that are 20 questions. You get extra credit for attending calss some days (1 point) for thought questions. The midterm and final have essay questions. The questions on quizzes, midterm, and final are questions where you have to put the information into use. She is very good at what she does.

Kelly is an extremely nice person, but she seems a little unorganized. Her tests are multiple chioce and essay. The multiple chioce is extremely simple. However, she grades harshly on the essays. The essays are very hard because you have to really know what you are talking about in great detail,<BR>there is no b.s.ing your way out of it. She will help you if you need help, and she seems sincere.

Dr. Madole is a good, but unorganized teacher. You have to write 5 papers, and you have a "quiz" every two weeks. However, her quizzes are more like tests and are quite difficult. But she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit!
