Dr. Eckard is intelligent and understands grammar well. In an online class he gave a few chances to make up extra credit. I liked taking 304 as an online class because it fit my schedule and did not require any meetings.
However, some struggled because he does not teach at all. Sometimes he sends handouts that are slightly helpful. If you cannot learn from a book or online websites, taking it online will not be really easy.
You will learn a lot. I think I learned a lot about grammar in this class and it has improved my writing.
One of the only issues I had was that I was two points from a higher grade and did not receive it. My participation grade was lower than I thought it should be, which would have gave me the higher grade. I always responded on the day the discussion board item was posted, repsonded to others, and tried again if I was not correct the first time. Advice to others: Study the chapter before taking quizzes and tests; respond to discussion board, check the discussion board frequently throughout the week for new posts.

Make sure you like to do discussion boards. He is great about not noticing that you turn anything in late. Don't stress too much about the term paper, I think everyone gets an A. The tests are difficult, but I didn't do very well on the exams but still made a B in the class. Take this online course!!!

Dr. Eckard is hilarious. He really knows his stuff. He has the rare ability of taking something as boring as grammar and making it half way interesting. I highly recommend him!

I took an online class with Dr. Eckard for English 300. His course layout is very well organized and easy to follow. He posts the assignments for the week, so it is easy to stay on top of things. He requires you to post with online dicussions twice a week for your participation grade. The class is all essay's with a research paper due at the end of the course. He does not give feedback about the grade he gives for your work, and asking doesn't help much.

Dr. Eckard is a great teacher! He will explain anything you do not understand and is always willing to help. He is really lenient on the term paper grades.

Dr. Eckard was one of the funniest teachers that I have ever had. He really did make class fun to attend. He gave great lectures to take notes from, posted all worksheets on ecourses, and we had one paper to write about grammatical errors in print and language. He helped a lot on the paper and it wasn't that hard. Our tests and few quizzes were multiple choice, fill in the blank, and application. He is a wonderful teacher that knows everything about the English language. Take him for sure.

Dr. Eckard is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He doesn't bother you with things you don't really need to know or already know naturallly. Plus, he's really funny and often goes to conferences. You better hope he teaches this class again, cause he rocks.

Dr.Rölz is one of the best german teachers at Western. Too bad he will leave after the spring 2003 semester. I learned alot about the structure of german businesses, how to make a good resume, and many technical terms unknown to me. Western would do good to keep him around for a while!

Dr. Eckard is a fun teacher. There are no tests, but there are a few pop quizes over assigned stories. You keep a journal over the stories that you have to read. Midterm you have to write an in-class essay, and at finals you have to write an in-class essay. Also, every other week or two you have to write an out-of class essay. Easy class to pass as long as you go.

I really enjoyed Dr. Eckard's class. He is a fun guy and really gets into teaching. He explains things well and doesn't make people fell like idiots for asking what may seem like a dumb question. I highly recomend him.
