Western Kentucky University / M / Terrence McCain

I've heard a lot of people with major complaints about their 250 course. Many professors require a huge, detailed binder and lots of papers on their observations. However, for Dr. McCain's course, we only had 3 papers (all required by the Education department) and 2 tests, which were cake. Also, he's really easy on grading the papers. I think I made 100 on 2 of them and a 99 on the other. Most of the time, I wrote the papers the night they were due.

The final consisted of 25 multiple choice questions and 5 short answer. You have no need to take notes, as he posts everything online.

We watched at least 4 or 5 films in his class, and I would definately reccommend showing up for those. There are often extra credit questions on the tests about things in the films.

I had this class at 8am Tues/Thurs and probably made it about once a week on average, but had no difficulty. McCain has no attendance policy and is willing to help anyone play catch up.

Although the course was sometimes pretty boring, McCain is a super-nice guy and his lectures are usually funny and entertaining at the least. If you've got to take 250, definately take McCain!

Dr. McCain is without a doubt my favorite teacher so far at WKU. He has many great characteristics about him and will bend over backwards to help you. Late work does not bother him so much just as long as you get it into him. I highly reccomend him for any class, he is such a nice guy.

I absolutely loved this class!! He will let you out of class early too. I would highly reccommend Dr. McCain for this class! It is a great class!

Dr. McCain is a very good teacher and I would reccomend him to anyone. He has been around and taught in a lot of different situations and has a lot of stories to tell. He is very real with you about what you will see in the schools, what you can and cannot do as well. He picks out what he thinks is important and focuses on that information. He doesn't spend a lot of time on b/s. He let us decide what the format of the test were. There are 3 papers you have to do, but you will have to do them with any teacher that you take. He is very willing to help you in anyway that he can. I would suggest that you take him!!!

There are not enough good things to say about Dr. McCain. He is an awesome professor. Middle grade majors are often times discouraged by others outside the major but Dr. McCain brings a very encouraging perspective. All of the notes are on blackboard so you can pay attention to the interesting stories that he tells. The tests come straight off the notes and he gives you a study guide before the test. I loved this class!!

He is an awesome instructor. He remembers all of his students and really cares about them. He is also very laid back, and the class isnt hard.

I really enjoyed this class. If you want to make the class more enjoyable than just taking notes and discussions, then, help to contribute to the cause...take part in the conversation, be active. It's a good class, and a good teacher.

He is a very laid back person. Most of your notes will be on blackboard. Overall he is a good teacher.Also you do have alot of critical performances in his class. He gives you a review sheet before the test. You have two test in this class and 15hrs of observation. Enjoy

Overall, I enjoyed the course... the grading scale was 92-100=A, which made the course somewhat more difficult, but that's how it is with all education classes. There are also several papers to write, but you will have to do them regardless of your teacher. McCain created an enjoyable atmosphere, which made it easy to learn. He provided the notes on blackboard, as well as extra credit. He is also open to suggestions on how to improve class, then he actually used our suggestions. Great teacher, great class... have fun!!

Dr. McCain is a good professor. He did, however, change his due dates often. (Mostly in the student's favor). He gives several opportunities for extra credit. His test are a little hard because he doen't cover the material to the best of his ability. Overall, it's a fun class!
