Stay AWAY!!! Horrible class. Take anyone else for this and it will be better than him. The class is extremely too diffult and the grades he gives on the speeches just depends on if he likes you or not. We had to give 5 speeches, 3 tests and boring group work. This class is more like a 400 level class. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.

He is a nice guy, but grades very hard on your speeches. He is a little intimidating and not very approachable if you have a question. There is also a lot of group work. If you are not comfortable getting up in front of the class and giving speeches this class is not for you. There are better teachers for this class.

I really loved this class. Dr. Musambira is a wonderful teacher and I learned so much in this course. If you work hard, he will take notice. Class participation in class discussions is incredibly important. His tests are pretty difficult but if you read the texts, listen in class, and go over your notes you will be okay. This is one of the best classes I have taken at Western. Very interesting!

Dr. Musambira is a good professor. He is intimidating at first because he is so specific in his syllabus and a very 'by the book' type of guy. He's from Uganda, but he's very funny and understandable. He'll tell you stories from when he first came to the US and a little about life in Uganda. This class isn't cake though, so if you want an easy gen ed, this isn't it. The tests are hard- 40-45 multiple choice questions (some that are very specific to the text, so you must read the book carefully!) and 10 short answer questions that apply the concepts from the book to situations. You also have to do a 300 point paper (30% of total grade). 5-6 pgs (don't go over, you'll be penalized) Interview a subject from a different cultural background then yourself and write the paper applying about 5 concepts from the book to your subject. This was a tough class, but not impossible. I really learned alot from Dr. Musambira, even though I really didn't expect to. If you have the time to devote to this class, take him, you'll learn alot.

Dr. Musambira is a good teacher and a very nice person. His class was very interesting and worth taking. His grading style is a little difficult, so you need to study for the tests. There are homework grades and group work and an individual project where you have to interview someone from a different culture. If you are a Comm. major I would suggest taking this class, plus it fulfills that world culture general ed. credit.

Dr. Musambira is very, very smart. He does a good job making you apply the theories to real life. Just be sure to focus on the chapter reports and term paper as those two grades can make up for problems on tests. His tests are hard, but simply focus on the book. Read the chapters as many times as you can. It is helpful to make outlines of each chapter, focusing on the highlighted terms and concepts. While it can be boring (the lectures), I did learn a lot and became a better thinker.

I really enjoyed this class. It was really interesting to learn about different cultures and it was great to hear some of Dr. Musambira's stories of his culture and his life growing up. He is funny and a nice man in general; he's the tyep to say hi to you in passing. He is REALLY particular on tests and a lot of the material comes straight from the textbook, so read carefully!

Dr. Musambira is beyond fabulous! I loved his class! This class was the only class I have actually felt guilty for missing whenever I was absent. Don't let other people tell you that Dr. Musambira is a hard ass or anything like that because he is extremely cool and freaking hilarious! Take his class if you get the chance.

Dr. Musambira is a great teacher. He has a distinct accent, but it is not difficult to understand him and don't let his accent stop you from taking his class. He brings interesting aspects to this particular course, and he actually has a sense of humor! This is one of the most interesting classes I've had so far. His tests are a little more difficult, but if you READ, READ, and READ the chapters and take the few notes that he gives out you will be fine. I HIGHLY recommend him!

In the late afternoon, I sometimes got kind of sleepy in his class and occasionally he'd run a few minutes over. There were a lot of group, in class, activities though that made it more interesting. I could almost get by in his class after the first test without taking any class notes at all. His tests are hard but you can do fine if you learn to take really good notes on the textbook. The term paper wasn't terribly hard, just be careful in his class to cite all of your sources. Challenging class, but worthwhile. If I hadn't slacked for the final, I could've had an A.

Dr. Musambira is a nice man but I am not sure I would recm him. This is a 200 level class and his test are like a 400 level class. The concepts you learn in class are easy but he makes them almost impossible on the test. I barely made a C and I studied. Most people in the class made B's and C's. It was an interesting class, but be prepared to work hard in it.

Dr. Musambira is a very nice professor but the class is pretty useless. All one gets out of it is that people from different cultures communicate differently with people from different cultures. So that sounds simple enough...but throw in random questions about "interesting facts" in the text as he calls them and the tests will ruin your grade. The tests cover a bunch of specific book facts and have nothing to do with what we did in class on a daily basis.

Musambira is From Ugonda and speaks with a disticnt British English accent that sometimes can be hard to understand. If you like structure in your classes then he is your man. He goes strictly by the sylibus and is very by the book ( about make up tests, abcenses ... you name it) He is also big on group work and usually group assingment during class dominate what will be on the test for the most part. BUT ... GEORGE is an awsome teacher, he has such a different and amazing view of the world because of his life expiriences it was a joy to take 2 of his classes. I learned so much from him, more than i would have wanted to if anyone else had been teaching the class. Take him for COMM 161 as well.

Dr. Musambira is a very organized, well-prepared, intelligent professor. He sticks to his syllabus like no other professor I've had before. He is a stickler for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, so at first you may receive bad grades on your papers, but he provdides outlets like the learning center and other places ou can receive help with your writing. His exams are hardcore, but you have time to prepare and there aren't any surprises - he just likes to pay attention to detail. Dr. Musambira is an excellent professor. I enjoyed a class that I had no interest in, but Musambira kept me captivated and at attention.

Mr. Musambira is a control freak and is very hateful. He is not in any way understanding or helpful. He's not a nice man! His tests are fairly easy, but cover a lot of info. I feel that he gave me a low grade because he disliked me. I do not recommend his class to anyone!

When I first met Dr. Musambira, I was really intimidated. However, I am glad I stayed in his class. He is a truly wonderful teacher and his accent isn't that difficult to understand. He never forgets his students names which really amazed me. He is a great professor and the class is alot of fun, even if you don't like speaking in front of people.

This professor is very hard on those of us who are shy people and do not like to get in front of people. He has a very thick accent and is hard to understand what he is saying sometimes. He shows a lot of favoritism to those who are very outgoing and talk your heads off. He bases his grades on how much eye contact you have and not the substance of your speech.

Lots of group work; a very 'intimate' class, as everyone knows everyone quickly. But don't expect to be lazy, because he makes you WORK for your grade. I can't imagine anyone saying they cannot understand a man so incredibly articulate! His interest in his subject and his students was evident and very refreshing! He is tough, but sincere and fair.

He is a great teacher. I really enjoyed his class and that is saying a lot because I am terrified of public speaking. He has you do a lot of group work which helps you get to know the class and makes it much easier to give speeches. The tests were all multiple choice which is usually great but you will need to read the book throughly to get an A on these tests. Overall he was a great teacher that made the class interesting and fun.

All of the difficulty of this course lies in understanding the professor. He has a very, very thick accent. It is important in a class to understand what a prof is saying, and you can imagine what it is like if you don't. Also, he is from Africa, and African-American issues are very near and dear to his heart. Unfortunately, that is not what this class is SUPPOSED to be about. He often makes the class his own podium for social commentary, specifically on African-American issues. It is a bit tiring. That is, when you can understand what he is saying.

He was a really good teacher. I enjoyed the class. There were about 4 speeches and one group speech. The group speech was the best. He had you do DETAILED outlines for each speech
