If you are the type of person that likes to attend class and then spend a couple hours everyday after class teaching yourself the material, then Dr. Nee is the profession for you. He doesnt do the best job of explaining anything. He expects you spend hours working it by yourself. Which with chemistry, you do have to study to get it down but with Dr. Nee, you have to spend extra hours studying trying to teach yourself the material. He has a fixed mind set that the course is supposed to be tough and fast paced and does not ver away from that. I had him MWF 8:00-8:55. If we did not finish the lecture, the next meeting day, we just moved on and he expected us to teach ourselves the material that was not covered. The test 10 Matching, and the rest MC but some of the MC requiring problem solving skills. He posts practice test about 3-5 days before each exam and are somewhat helpful and they are not easy. I have a 3.81 GPA and so far i have a made a 76 and a 78 on the first two test. He gives online Homework which is helpful because it counts for a grade. Dr. Nee knows his stuff but doesnt know how to explain it and teach it to his classes. Sorry for the long novel, just trying to be helpful.

I took chem 116 with Pesterfield and loved the class. I have no idea where Dr. Nee gets his exam questions but they are nothing like the lecture material. Im usually good in chemistry but Im pretty sure Im going to fail this semester and I hope Pesterfield teaches 120 next semester!

As a person who is not very good at math, this class was quite difficult. However, Dr. Nee provided us with a lot of materials to help us succeed in the class. He is very understanding and enthusiastic and wants his students to pass, but you have to earn your good grades. If you take advantage of the resources he gives you, you will do well in this difficult class.

Take Dr. Nee. He's a great professor and he seems to really care about his students. Dr. Nee always makes time to meet with his students if you need help. The class is difficult, but no matter the teacher, this class is not going to be a breeze. I did very poorly on two tests, but still made an A because he provides quizzes and homework that boost your grade. If you go to class and pay attention you will do well. The final exam is cumulative, but it is all of the previous tests put into one, just using different numbers on the problems. You will do fine! Take Dr. Nee.

No matter the teacher, chemistry is not going to be a cake class. I highly recommend Dr. Nee. I struggle with chemistry and have done very well in his class. GO TO CLASS. If you don't, you can pretty much promise yourself a lower grade on the test. Quizzes occur every few lessons, but are very similiar to your homework problems and really help your grade. If you want to do well in 120, take Dr. Nee. He also provides homework to bump your grade up. You have to work hard, but trust me its worth it when everyone else is struggling to keep up in 120.

Dr. Nee is an excellent professor, but be advised that this course is an avalanche of work. His tests are quite difficult, but the grade you receive is based upon your performance with respect to other students. The concept questions are generally far more challenging than the analytical problems and little to no knowledge of calculus is required.
I do not like working in the lab and this class puts a heavy emphasis on application. Expect your lab reports to be heavily scrutinized and they will generally be between 8 - 12 pages in length. They are due on a bi-weekly basis and they have the potential to ruin your life. However, if you can effectively manage time (unlike me), you should do just fine.
