While she clearly displayed enthusiasm for the topics she was teaching, she was unable to clearly convey them to the class. She's a sweet woman, she is just impossible to understand..which makes everything hard. You can try to teach yourself but she seems to put questions on the test that haven't been discussed at all in class...overall, a nice woman, but a bad teacher.

I've read some people say she is hard to understand, but once you get used to her it isn't bad. The final wasn't cumulative for us, just over the last portion of the book we covered. The reviews are basically the test. The ARIS homework is easy and you get a ton of points with that way. She takes attendance by signing your name to a piece of paper before class. The most important thing in her class, get to know her. If you visit her in office hours, email her about anything at all, she will help you out in the end. I met with her several times, and emailed all my questions. Not only did she respond quickly through email, but in the end helped me out a ton with my grade. I highly recommend her, as she helps getting into Chem much better.

If you have trouble understanding people who are from a foreign country, do NOT take this course. It is a daily struggle with her vocabulary and her math skills aren't that great either. I took AP Chemistry in high school and I got an A, but in this class, I don't even want to mention the scores that I received. In my notes from her lectures, I didn't know some of the words she was trying to say, so I just wrote out what they sounded like. I got so lost!!!

PROF ZENG does not speak english very well. this is the first thing she informed the class about and probably the most important factor in the overall ability of the students to learn from her. however! there are redeaming qualities for this class: she teaches directly from the book and curves the tests (the only reason i did not recieve a C or D) plus, prof zeng is very understanding of the importance of the almighty GPA, and willing to give a little leeway if she is requested to do so by mass quantities of students! she is very willing to help outside of class and encourages e-mailing her questions. she is a very nice lady.

Dr. Zeng "no want you be stressful" so with that, this class was fairly easy, It was easy because all of the quizzes and homeworks were online. The tests were ok and mostly multiple choice. The thing that was bad about this class is the she has a strong accent and is hard to understand and she drug out the lectures way to long! this class however is fairly easy!

Tingying is a helpful instructor, although her accent is a problem to get around. She made the course very easy.

I very highly recommend that you take any other professor. If you have to take any other chem course, Tingying will do you no good. Her favorite thing to say seems to be "I'm sorry, I made a mistake", and you will spend most the class trying to figure out what is and is not a mistake. The test that I did best on in the entire course is the one that I taught myself the material and did not listen to her at all! She teaches out of order from what the chemistry department has decided, and because of this virtually none of the labs that we did matched the material we had covered in class. Everyone from Pesterfields class knew excately what they were doing. All of us from Tingying's class were lost.
Also if you read this and still take Tingying one bit of advice. If she offers extra credit on a test treat it like an actual problem. Don't skip it. Don't run out time. On our test she decided that so many people did well on the extra credit question that she made it regular credit. So yes she rewrote the test AFTER we had taken it and the extra credit question actually HURT peoples grades. End rant.

I Found This Course To Be Difficult Because I Am Not So Great At Chemistry. However, You Take All The Homework and Quizzes Online and You Have Multiple Chances To Take Them. There Is No Reason You Shouldn't Make A 100 On Every Homework Assignment. The Exams Were A Little Hard But If You Look Over The Notes She Posts Online And Pay Attention You Will Do Fine. The Only Set Back In This Class Was Her Foriegn Accent Which Was A Little Hard To Understand. However, She Is Very Eager To Help You As Much As She Can.

Doesn't speak english well and mainly gets her facts messed up. My classmates had to correct her. Will confuse you, and you must teach yourself. I strongly advise against taking her!

Ting Ying, although a little difficult to understand, really cares about the students! If you go to her showing a valid concern in your grade, you WILL do well! I was on the A/B edge, I went to her and talked about it! She helped me prepare for the final and I pulled an A! Even though I am no longer in her class I can still go to her even if it is just to talk! People will tell you not to take her because of the language barrier but dont listen to that! If you cannot understand her, tell her, she will write it down or do anything to help you! You won't find this caring of an Instructor in Chemistry! Mark my word!
