He told us to come to class on MULTIPLE occasions to tell us we were failures and going nowhere in life. If you were to good on the first test, he would answer your questions with good answers. But if you did poorly on it, he would call you stupid or be very rude to you when you did ask questions. I would NOT advise taking his class.

This class is nothing short of misery. Dr. Wyatt has a cruel sense of humor, and can see nothing wrong with verbally assaulting students in front of the entire class, regardless of what issue they have approached him with. He requires attendance and checks it through an automated “clicker”, which can be unreliable, and leaves many students with undeserved absences. Though it is his “preferred form of communication” as listed on his syllabus, he never responds to emails, and when you try to ask him something in person, he is harsh and critical.
I also believe being a teacher requires more than reading off PowerPoint slides you get with the teacher’s edition of your selected e-textbook, which is all he does. I learn more outside of the lecture through the work I do on my own than from the content he reads off of “his” slides in class. For the work required to pass, his course is essentially an independent study with a mandatory workshop three times a week. Wyatt is a terrible teacher, and a hateful individual. He should not be employed by an institution of high education that has any affection for their enrolled students, or hopes of their success.

***IF YOU CAN AVOID DR WYATT - DO SO!!!*** First off, his teaching style is nothing more than reading you the powerpoint. There is no explanation to it. He does post them on Blackboard though. Also, when you ask a question, he gives vague answers that have nothing to do with your question. When you ask to see your test, he tells you there is no point in it "It just tells you that you don't know what you don't know". Be prepared for a smart-aleck answer every time you deal with this man. He is rude and talks down to his students. At times he even argues with them. ***Also, if you HAVE to take his class, keep good records of your grade. ALWAYS KEEP A COPY OF EVERYTHING. Even go look at your test. Make sure his grading procedure is clear from day 1. He tends to change it whenever the wind blows.*** Lastly, the book is not clear either. I don't mind having a jerk for a teacher if I can get the material from the book. I had to ask my lab teacher what the book (and his powerpoints) were saying. She could NOT understand what was being said to explain it to me. JUST BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

OMG- run, dont walk to drop this class. I felt like I was on "Survivor" or something- I'd get through one hurdle like a a 6-hour homework assignment and then there would be another one, like a group project (online!). He rants practicially every day about how lazy, stupid, shiftless, deceptive all students are. Don't expect any support from him- all you will get is a tirade. He seems to have nothing but disdain for us lowly college students. Very negative experience. This class was worth 1 college credit, but took more time than any 3 hour class Ive ever had. I'm sure he is a smart man, but that does not make one a good teacher. He needs to be in a lab somewhere far far away from students.

Get out while you have the chance! This class online is packed with so much information covering so many different biology courses, it's ridiculous. I feel as if I've taken part of 120, microbiology, genetics, zoology, and anatomy. Dr. Wyatt can come off as not exactly the nicest person, but just wants you to work and learn the material. If this is the only class you take all semester, then you'll be fine. But if you're taking an online class b/c you're pressed for time, I suggest something else.

There is no book, all the material you need is online provided by him. There is a lot of material. I suggest copying it into word and then searching for answers when you have quizzes and exams. There are some easy other assignments like reading articles and such. You can take the quizzes as many times as you want.
These is a discussion board for help and issues. Don't bother. He will never answer your questions if it concerns grades or points.
The content isn't that hard, it's just the professor. He doesn't actually realize that this being a gen ed class for most of us, most students don't live and breath this class like he thinks they should.

I would not recommend taking a lab course on-line. You need to document every step of every lab. The quizzes are difficult even if you prepare and they are timed. The final was comprehensive and was proctored. Take this course on campus, if possible. Discussion board was useless, Wyatt would respond to every question asked and make the student feel stupid . He should let the students discuss the material and they would probaby learn more.

I took this course on the web and was amazed how the professor responded to students on the discussion board. I'm a non-traditional student and have been in the workplace for 23 years and have never seen someone be more untactful. He has the book posted on the computer so be ready to live with your computer in your lap or sit at a desk for the next several weeks. The material was interesting, but I don't think I retained any of it. I did get an A, but I worked for it night and day for 15 weeks and took off 4 days from work to study for the comprehensive final which was proctored.

I took this as a web base course. Overall this course was moderately easy however I'll be the first to tell you that I don't remember much from this subject. Do not take this course unless you have a great computer and internet connection because in Prof. Wyatt's mind a slow computer/connection or my computer crash is not an excuse. Also ask him to put up a practice test on the first day in order to see if your computer will run it right and if the timer runs right On my first test my computer didn't load up half the questions on time and so I went over the time limit because the timer was off. I therefore got half the questions wrong. Also Prof. Wyatt won't give you an answer to your questions straight up he'll just provide the means for you to find the answer yourself. The online labs where great. I expecially liked the crab lab.

I took Dr. Wyatt's course online. The web pages that he had provided were very usual and contained a lot of good information, however the amount of material we covered was a lot and made it very hard to study for exams. His exams are pretty difficult but he provides a practice test which you can take multiple times that have many of the same questions that will be on the test. He is a perfectionist and doesnt cut any one slack. But if you are a bio wiz this is the class for you.

Dr. Wyatt is a complete JERK! He made me feel stupid for asking questions about course material and always gave sarcastic answers to other student's questions on blackboard. I never asked him another question throughout the entire semester. I had a problem taking an online quiz one time, so I emailed him about it. His response was "Better luck next time." It was not my fault that the quiz reset itself, and he did nothing about it.
He also does not like helping students because he tells them to figure it out on their own. Why is he even there if he is not going to help the students?
Wyatt also believes that his little 1 credit hour class should be above all other courses you are taking. I put three times as much time into this one class than any of my other classes...and made better grades in all of them. There is just something wrong with this picture!

I took this class on the web- BIG mistake! You are constantly having to check Blackboard to see what assignments are due and when. The work amount is overkill and I regret not taking this class as a lecture class. The quizzes and tests aren't in the notes so I have no idea where the material comes from. Also, don't expect him to ever help you out if you have a question about the material or even about your grade. I emailed him on numerous accounts and I never got a response back- and my grade shows it! Overall, don't take this as a web class because it's not as easy as you think that it would be. Also, don't take him for this class either if you don't have to.

I think Dr. Wyatt is a nice guy... arrogant and somewhat cocky, but nice. If you are respectful to Dr. Wyatt, then he does not make you look foolish in front of everyone. All of the material is online. He expects students to read all of the material and understand it. But, he also insists that students ask questions on the discussion board and he quickly responds (not necessarily giving you the answer though... he simply tries to guide you to the right answer). There is a lot of information to grasp. The class required an enormous amount of work, especially since it is only worth 1 credit hour!!!!! There was a lab and a quiz due most weeks, on week without a quiz, there was a test. All quizzes and tests are timed and are taken online at home, except the final exam must be proctored. The cumulative final exam is extremely easy compared to the rest of his quizzes and tests.

This course is an extremely difficult course. If you are thinking you will do better in this class because you don't have to attend it, think again. There is way too much reading and way too much information, and there is no telling what will be on the tests and quizzes. He gives a study guide, but it doesn't mean that is what will come on the quiz and tests. Make sure if you do take this you remember every single thing you ever read, and if you take the Lab online too, make sure you remember every single detail of each lab you do, because you will be tested on random things.

Dr. Wyatt is terrible!! His lectures make no sense and if you ask him a question, he acts like you are stupid. His tests are impossible. I studied hours for his tests and did poorly several times. Every student has a different test, so you could have a harder test than the person next to you. I worked really hard on all the assignments and got decent grades. The online "book" is ok....but sometimes its hard to read. His lectures are directly from blackboard. I expected a B in the class and FAILED the final and got a C. It is my first C ever and it was completely unfair. This class is terrible. It has completely turned me away from Biology and sciences in general, even though i used to love it.

If you're lazy and want a class you don't have to worry about skipping, this is the one. Attendance isn't required, except for exams and quizzes, and all of the material is online, so you don't have to purchase a book.
I'll admit it definitely does help to show up to class, but you can still make an A if you don't. Dr. Wyatt does a decent job of going over the material, and is willing to answer any questions you may have. Sometimes he comes off as a smartass, but he just likes to joke a lot and doesn't really get too pissy in class.
You have quizzes online that you can take as many times as you want, just your recent score counts, and he usually gives you a few weeks to do them. Start early and take them til you get the full credit! They're not hard, and they really add up to help you out on your grade at the end of the semester.
Exams aren't all multiple choice. Most of the questions are fill in the blank, shorter answers, and labeling diagrams. Study hard, even if it's just cramming, and take the few assignments you have seriously. The final is comprehensive, but it's generally the easy stuff of each section and he cuts you a lot of slack if you put something down that makes sense.
He's a nice teacher, you can skip and not be lost, but you still have to put a decent amount of time into the material to actually learn something.

This is a web class that you do not have to attend. However the material on the web is so much that you end up taking an overkill of notes. His tests are EXTREMELY tricky. He has questions that cover the most minor details. He does have lots of assignments and quizzes that help your grade out and one extra credit assignment. So make sure to do that and study before tests and you'll be fine. It's only hard if you don't do the assignments and keep up.

Dr. Wyatt is an excellent lecturer with good examples if you go to class. It is not required except for about 5 or 6 times but very helpful. He also seemed to take more note of me because I did go to class. In grading of his tests, he was lenient. I thought I had bombed a test, but when I checked back on the web site, I got a 98. If you asked via posting a question on the forum, he made you feel small and stupid for asking, and allows everyone enrolled to read it. Most responses were "it's on the website, find it yourself" which would be fine, but there's tons of information on the website to swim through, when he could answer the question easily himself. I didn't enjoy the class, and i didn't enjoy the teacher.

I thought that this was plain old biology, not a problem. Mr. Wyatt on the other hand thinks this class is life or death. He is the Worst teacher I have ever had, he isnt helpful when it comes to questions and when you do ask a question he makes you feel like a fool for asking. All the info is on the website he made which has at least 300 pages you have to study. The only reason I and many students are passing is because he gives you extra assignments not just 4 exams, although the final is cumulative, 300 pages of studying. I do not recommend him to anyone that has any other classes in that semester. He is definetly one of the top three worst teacher as Western.

All notes, projects and papers are on the internet. While the website is actually rather good, he expects you to know all of the information on there. Too much info for such little time. I would advise everyone to avoid unless they are VERY into computers.

Dr. Wyatt's class is completely optional attendance except on days of exams and in class quizzes. There is no textbook because the entire class is on the web. You HAVE to study for an exam, but if you are not an auditory learner, spend your class time printing off the pages and studying! The final is comprehensive, but covers a LOT of the first and second sections!!!

Be prepared to put a lot of effort in this class if you want a good grade. Attendance nor a book is required for this class because everything is on a web site. The web site is awesome because there are lots of exercises and quizzes to help you study. Dr. Wyatt does not like lazy students and he has no mercy on them. He cares about what he does but if you don't care about what you do, he won't care either. He offers several chances to pull your grade up with extra credit and several small assignments along the way. Also, he gets your tests and assignments graded very fast and posts them so you don't have to wonder how you did for a long time.

The whole class is online, so you don't have to come to the lectures if you so choose. He offers a little extra credit, but he has numerous practice exercises, and quizes hidden within the information online. You have to read the information to do well in the course. If you read the webpages and click on all his little toys you'll do well in the class.

Professor Wyatt was an awful teacher. I learned nothing in that class. Most of the time, he showed up, told us what we were doing, and left. He very rarely stayed to help the class with questions. When he was there for questions, he acted like you were stupid for asking.

Dr Wyatt is an excellent professor. I would definately recommend him to any non-science major. There is no book to buy for this course, he has placed all of his teaching material on the internet. Also he explicitly tells you that you don't have to come to class since he teaches directly off the internet.

Dont have to show up for class. All material is on the internet. Makes class interesting if you do attend. Give great examples of everything. You can also listen to the lectures of the class on the internet. Great class Dr. Wyatt.

This was my first Internet course, and it was awesome. The work that Dr. Wyatt has put into his web page is outstanding. Everything you need to learn is right there in front of you. This is the only way to take a general ed Biology class!

Dr. Wyatt has created a website that makes any textbook look like it's 5000 years old. The class is totally based on the information contained on the website. You can keep up with the class by attending class or reading the material without going to class. The only in class assignments are a quiz that is given the beginning of the semester and the exams that have to be taken in class. So attendance is not necessary. This class is a very benefical one for students who really don't like science but need to fulfill a credit in that area and YES you will learn a lot of material. There is a community message board to post questions about the class and your grades are available online throughout the semester.
The website gives you everything you need to make it through biology. It was a wonderful class. Way to go, Dr. Wyatt.

Class was very challenging, but very fair. All questions were answered and all information was clear. No trick or obscure questions. Very fun presentation, just lots of information. If you study hard, the class is easy. If you don't, it is very difficult or impossible, you cannot guess your way through the tests.

Dr. Wyatt does an excellent job in his website for this class. The graphics are great and sure simplifies some of the complicated subject matters. I really enjoyed this course--it was both informative and interesting. I had to work my butt off though--I have never studied so much in my last two years!!
My overall rating would have been excellent had it been given as a choice above.

Professor Wyatt was an awful teacher. He didn't teach me anything about biology. He doesn't like students and he thinks questions are stupid. He put the students down and he didn't treat anyone good. If we asked for help he would just say I don't know, figure it out yourself! It just wasn't a fun class with him teaching it. I felt like he didn't want to be there or teach us. They should hire someone who cares! I wasn't taking a teach myself class, I actually wanted to learn and he wasn't doing his job.
