This class is definitely not an easy class. You have to work and study but as long you put some effort into it, it shouldn't be too bad. There are 5 quizzes and you can drop your lowest grade. There are 4 tests and a comprehensive final. To understand the material you must come to class. The book is needed for homework (which she doesn't check or take up but I recommend you do it). Extra credit is available if you attend PASS sessions or tutoring. I really liked her as a teacher because she thoroughly explained things.

I was not Mrs. Brooks biggest fan. She does know the material but she grades way to hard, and the tests are just unreasonable. She gives multiple choice for the majority of the test, so with the big long math problems, their is NO partial credit. She also makes the questions really tricky. It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't make everything multiple choice, and it wouldn't be so bad if she offered credit for all the homework she assigns. Basically I hated her and her class. She always showed up late and keeps you late. She is super religious and it shows. Don't get on her bad side, or you will not pass. Period.

Mrs. Brooks is kind of a hard teacher to like. She comes across as being harsh... and isnt one of those teachers that I would want to take another class from. Her material is kind of hard, unless you study very hard and read every single chapter and do lots of practice on the nomenclature, its hard to get an A in the class. She does offer extra credit for every test though, you have to find a recent article that relates your major to chemistry.

This course is pretty easy but Mrs. Brooks is kind of a whore. I mean I thought it was all real easy as long as you studied the material and memorized the all crap she gave you. She was kind of annoying but you better go to her lectures and pay attention or you'll fail. This class is pretty hard to catch up in if you fall behind and if you had to retake it I wouldn't be suprised because about 50% of the class was taking it for a 2nd time and it looks like about 50% failed this time. So just be cautious oh yeah and do the extra credit and study.

Do the homework! It doesn't get checked directly, but the practice will serve you well in the exams and quizzes. When she tells you to memorize something (and there's a good bit of this), DO IT, and do it when she tells you to; otherwise, you'll spend the entire term playing catch-up. I have always loathed math and pretty much steered clear of science, so I went into this course dreading it. I came away feeling that I had really learned something and it had almost been fun. Easy extra credit--DO IT. Take advantage of PASS and tutoring available.

Science is my worst subject and I was really worried about taking chemistry. Mrs. Brooks makes this class really easy. She gives a lot of examples and explains things in a way anyone can understand. She is always more than willing to help. She offers homework, which isn't mandatory, however, if science is a challenge, doing the homework will help so much. The test is made up of the homework problems. If you have to take chemistry, take Mrs. Brooks.

Mrs. Brooks is one of the best teachers I have had. She has a way of making everyone understand, yet she is witty and fair. She does not value any of her students more than others, which makes her a great teacher. She is available for help when that is needed and she is willing to help with other classes. This makes Mrs. Brooks one of the best I have had. Thank you Mrs. Brooks.

Brooks is a great Chemistry teacher. She explains everything to the level where she expects you to know it. Makes the class interesting and exciting. Works several problems until the class understands. Extra credit can be turned in before every test and will be added to your test score. Great teacher for those who struggle with chemistry and/or just like having someone with loves to teach.

I really enjoyed this class, mainly because of Mrs. Brooks. You can tell that she is really passionate about teaching and seems to really care about her students. Her class isn't a piece of cake, you have to work. You have a lot of homework but it only helped me. You get to drop so many quiz and homework grades and that helps. I would recommend this class to anyone needing a Chemistry class

I learned SO much from Mrs. Brooks. She is the best chemistry teacher I have ever had. She is very passionate about teaching. She has an uncanny way of making every student understand the material. The only people who don't pass this class are the lazy ass drunks who sleep in class. Mrs. Brooks even makes some of them enjoy the class! You will know so much about chemistry after completing this class. Before I took Mrs. Brooks, my score on the Toledo placement was a 35 (you need a 38 to pass). After I took 116 with Mrs Brooks, I scored a 49! Thank you Mrs. Brooks!

Mrs. Brooks' class may seem ok to some who have read previous evaluations, but be forwarned, she is one of the worst teachers I have had. Her tests are difficult to study for, her grading is poor, and she spends more time talking about her daughter, her gas, and rental properties then chemistry. It takes 2 weeks to get your grades back(including the final). If you have any choice, avoid Brooks, if you can, avoid Thompson North Wing all together. Chemistry isnt ment to be this painful. Try someone else.

She gives out worksheets for homework just about everyday and you have 4 tests plus a final and 5 quizes. She lets you drop your 5 lowest HW grades and the lowest quiz, making it easy to get a good grade. I recommend her to anyone!

Mrs. Brooks is one of the sorriest excuses for an instructor that I have ever had. Not only is she difficult to look at day in and day out, but she is very rude and disrespectful to students and has somewhat of a God complex. She is moody and very abrupt, and treats you like you are still in high school. My 106 lab instructor did a much better job explaining things than she did and was much more helpful and friendly. Perhaps a job doing paperwork AWAY from other people would be a more suitable position for Mrs. Brooks.

This class is not difficult but you HAVE to do your homework and read the chapters in order to understand what is going on. She goes at a very fast pace and assumes you've pre-read the material before class. This was my first chemistry class ever and she did a VERY good job of explaining the basic concepts in plain english.

Mrs. Brooks 105 does not correlate very well with the 106 lab. I had already learned everything in lab before class so it was an extremely boring class to sit through, especially with her not so funny antics. She just looks uncomfortable all the time which might be why she is very moody. If you just learn your stuff you'll be alright(polyatomic ions, nomenclature, etc.). It really is pretty easy, but Mrs. Brooks is hard to look at day after day. Don't get on her bad side.

I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Brooks is an excellent, outgoing, laidback teacher. She loves to joke around in class and is actually one of the few teachers who learns everyones name. The class is Chemistry, so she expects you to know most of the material already, since most people had chemistry in high school. She explains things very well and is very helpful. Her tests are not difficult, if you apply yourself. Her class is an easy A.

Ms Brooks is a rare find at a major university. She seems to want to teach students more than engage in any research. I find that very comforting. Her class is demanding, a great deal of homework, and the quizes and tests are very particular in what they ask for. But when you get to 120 you will be glad she taught you. She is not strict just to see students suffer, it forces you to become a better chemistry student.
