This class is HARD! It will take a lot of hard work on your part because you won't learn much in class. I did recieve an A barely but I put in soo much time into this class. If you have the time you can probably do well but you MUST make the time. All tests are problem solving no multiple choice or any of that. If you have to take in Glasgow there are only 2 teachers and I hear the other one is no better. SO good luck!

This course is fairly easy if you are good with math. It will be a difficult class for anyone who struggles with math but that would be the case in any of these classes. She does a good job of working examples on the board and if you need extra help she is glad to take the time outside of class to help you. You can retake her tests as many times as you want. There is a lot of homework with this class but every 116 class gives the same assignments. I personally liked having this professor. You will need the computer program that comes with the textbook but you can buy that program online cheaper and you will never use the textbook anyway and they don't buy the book back! Also if you come to every class she gives you 10 points on your final grade!

This is a very tough class, but it isnt impossible. I just asked a lot of questions. I dont think she always liked it, but you just have to let her know that you are not going to let her go on until you understand the content, becasuse if you get behind you might as well drop the class because it is too hard to catch up. She is also a very hard grader, so make sure and triple check all of your work on the tests because she will tear you up on little mistakes.

I think Mrs. Wells is a nice person outside of the classroom, but in the classroom in my own honest opinion she could care less if you pass or fail. She does not teach very well and when you do try to learn more and ask questions about the material she confuses you even more and makes you feel stupid for asking it. You can study you r notes, do your bookwork, mymath lab, and all those worksheets she gives you but can still fail the test. Her test are WAY harder than they should be. It's nothing you learn in class she doesn't even try to put some easy questions in there, they are all way over your head. Unless you are great at teaching yourself or really good at math, I do not recommend ever taking her.

Leigh Wells is one of those people who seem nice on the outside. She is a pastor's wife, so she has to LOOK that way. That is as far as it goes. Directions that do not exist are one of the worst ways in which to lose points on assignments. She is not clear about what she wants on homework, comp. assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. The material is not taught. It is simply written out in problems on the board, she reads the notes to you and that is the extent of the teaching. Once the class average on the tests reach about 29% she realizes that she should give the test again, after more instruction and guidance and makes the test so much harder than the first that many still fail the tests. She then goes on to tell us that we did not study enough, it is our fault that she is a bad teacher. Her remarks during class are very short and cold, and she gives that look of "are you stupid or what?" that is totally unprofessional. How she ever became a teacher I will never know! Please realize that I'm not a complainer, and get along with most anyone. This professor is not inspiring, does not want to teach, therefore, does not want to teach people good skills and practices for being a teacher. Please do not put yourself through this.

Mrs. Wells is a nice person. I think she really tries but sometimes is not clear enough. Mostly you print off the notes and she just reads over them putting few examples on the board. I highly recomend doing the homework and seeking as much help as possible. The tests are ridiculously long and hard. Make sure to pay plenty of attention to every sentence in any assignment she gives. One thing could knock you down several points. If you can find time to meet with her I advise doing this as much as possible.

I'm usually a pretty good math student but taking this class was like pulling teeth. DONT sign up for Mrs. Wells if you do take this class.
She speeds through the material and doesn't explain anything. YOu basically have to teach yourself the material...there is a bunch of HW every night.
Plus i could barely stand listening to her. Her voice was the prime example of nails on a chalk board.
She's nice....but dont take her if you want to learn or have a good grade.
OH and her tests and quizes are insanely difficult.

Professor Wells is a good teacher she is just hard. She expects a lot of her students and sometimes she seems unapproachable when students have questions or don't understand. This class is a lot of work and requires a lot of studying in order to get a decent grade. I worked my butt of just for a C and math is my best subject. Make sure you don't return your book from 211 either because you will need it in 212.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MRS. WELLS for college algebra... This should be a really easy math class but it is really hard... she goes over new material each class and she flies through it... you can't finish writing the problem down before she is halfway through another... When I got back to my dorm room to do my homework I'd have to go through the MathXL 'help me solve this problem' each time.... don't waste your time with Mrs. Wells unless you are ok with a low grade!! Her test and quizzes are very hard....

Mrs. Wells is a nice person but a very bad teacher. She just expects that every person in the class knows what she is doing and yes you can ask questions but by the time you get ready to ask a question about a certain step she is already 3 ahead. She moves so fast and doesnt explain anything. when i asked for help on a homework problem she said wait till the next class and i will go over it then. i needed help then becasue we had a quiz the next class period and i did horrible on it because of that. Mrs. Wells is a really sweet person. Some people say her class is horrible and that she is a bad teacher but I disagree. The subject she teaches isn't easy, but she teaches it well. She is from Alabama and talks with a southern accent and it is hilarious. The class moves fast because there is alot of material to go over in a short amount of time. You can't expect this course to be easy with ANY teacher, but Mrs. Wells WANTS you to pass and wants you to do well.

Mrs. Wells is a nice professor. I fell behind a little bit and never got completely caught up. If you ask her for extra help, she will gladly explain whatever you need. She does move quick, but feel free to ask her questions in class, it's no big deal. Her tests are challenging, but not tricky. If you know the material, you'll do fine. The quizzes aren't that bad, but you need to look over that week's notes the night before. She puts extra credit on both quizzes and tests. Very personable, I recommend her!

This class moves quickly as others have said but not so fast as to lose most people. The material is not too difficult and the book is not overly necessary if you have had a good math background in high school. Mrs. Wells is a nice teacher and very helpful and honest. She can be stern at times though. Almost all grades come from quizzes and tests but she is good to give partial credit and bonuses on the quizzes/tests. Attendance is not part of grade but can help out grades and is good to know the material. The exams are very long and expansive. The cumulative final is tough and stressful but it my grade turned out well.

Math 212 is a difficult course no matter who teaches it, but Mrs. Wells is a wonderful teacher. She is ALWAYS willing to help if you have questions. I often emailed her and visited her in her office to get assistance and she was always very, very helpful. The key to her class is doing the homework EVERY night. It is a lot of work to do, but that way, you can see what parts you have trouble with and talk to her about it the next class meeting. The tests are difficult and the final is extremely long and difficult. I was in there for 2 1/2 hours because the final was 11 pages long, but I really felt prepared for it because Mrs. Wells is a really great teacher!

Leigh Wells is the WORST teacher I have ever had in my entire life!! The woman will drive you completely crazy, no doubt. She does not teach you the things you need to know, she just expects you to already know how to do them. Then when she gives you assignments/tests/quizzes, everyone does badly, THEN she proceeds to tell you how to do it AFTER the fact. She does not give clear directions but she is definately not shy about taking points off your grade for directions that do not exist. She is stubborn and unwilling to compromise on anything. She ignores the obvious fact that when a great majority of the class does horrible on a test, that that is a reflection on her!!! It is not that the whole class is stupid, she needs to revaluate herself and her teaching methods (or lack of). My advice is to steer clear of Leigh Wells, she is nightmare!

Math 116E, unlike other 116 level courses, meets everyday. I failed the math placement exam when entering college, and took this course to earn full credit for the 116 level. Let's just say I applied myself after having failed the MPE, and made one of the highest--if not the highest--averages in the class.
I can't recommend Mrs. Wells strongly enough. She is a brilliantly knowledgeable woman with a quirky sense of humor and a country drawl. She is entertaining in class, and is aware that the material is challenging for most--if not all-- students in the class. Thus, she is completely welcome to assisting you in her office, and often offers extra credit and bonus questions on tests/quizzes.
Please take her. She's a Christian, and is a genuine, loving woman, who is truly fulfilling her calling in teaching math. She is phenomenal.

Math just plain sucks. But you have to take it, and you might as well take Mrs. Wells. She is a GREAT teacher. She makes herself available whenever you need to meet with her. She does speed through a lot of her material, but only because she is passionate about it, if you just ask her to slow down, she'll laugh and apologize, and go over the material a little slower. There are plenty of quizzes to raise your grade and you get to drop your two lowest scores. She is a great teacher and I HIGHLY recommend her if you're not the best at Math.**

I don't have a problem doing math at all, I'm pretty good, but this woman made little concepts so hard to grasp. And please never ever ask her to explain what she means. You might leave the class crying. She's very confrontational and will insult you if she believes you should understand whatever algebraic expression she's written on the board. She moves fast and gives lots of homework. The homework and the quizzes don't have any correlation. She tells you point blank, the quiz will be harder. You might have a 5 question quiz, but each will have 10 parts(no exaggeration) and be worth 20 pts. You have to get tutored, otherwise you won't understand. This is an AWESOME Math 109 professor! She is great0- very laid back, and realizes that nobody wants to be there on fridays at 9 am. She give fun extra credit quizzes, that have insanely simple answers, and brings candy to class. you WANT this teacher!
