Coming out of high school, many freshman aren't used to a teacher like Dale. Honestly, he is a cool guy and a little quirky but it is just who he is. He really tries to get college students to realize that school is more than just grades and making a teacher happy, it is about keeping an open mind and figure out things for yourself. Many freshman aren't used to a teacher like that and so they are resistant to his style of teaching. Go with it, you'll be glad you did.
