Dr. Musalia is a fantastic teacher!! He really strives to make the class interesting and easy! All of his tests have a study guide that he puts up about 2 weeks in advance and the questions are word for word from the study guide. There are AT LEAST 10 extra credit points available on every test. Attendance is not mandatory, however if you attend every class he will boost your grade at the end of the semester, and honestly I never had a desire to skip this class because he makes it so entertaining. As long as you pay attention in class and do the study guide it's impossible not to make an A!!

He is so easy to listen to, provides study guides with the actual questions and is always willing to help with questions. He teaches from powerpoints that help organize your studying for the test and has videos that help break up the unexciting daily class lecture. Great class! encourage you to take him

I was really worried about this course but he makes it really easy to understand. He is a really funny guy and an amazing teacher. If you aren't great at tests, he gives plenty of homework to bring your grade up! You could really bad on the tests and still walk out with a C. The assignments are really easy...step by step directions easy. If you have to take this class, take Dr. Musalia!

Dr. Musalia is a great teacher and is really passionate about the subject. His powerpoints are on blackboard but it helps to go to class because he puts bonus questions on the exams from discussion topics that are not on the slides. He will also round your grade up to the next letter grade (from say an 87-88 to a 90) if you miss less than 3 classes. He also posts study guides on blackboard that are almost identical to the corresponding exam- so fill out the study guide! I only used my book when studying for the exams. He finds ways to make the information interesting and encourages group participation.

Dr. Musalia is a great teacher! I was so nervous about taking this class, but he makes it very easy to understand and is always willing to help! Many days, he lets you out a few minutes early! He always offers bonus questions on tests, usually worth 5 or 10 points! He makes class more interesting by joking with students and giving real life examples. Take him if you're going to take this class! He is awesome! Love him!! :)

Mr.Musalia is a nice guy, but this class to me was difficult. If you are good at taking test then this is the class for you. There are 4 test & a final..you have to read one book outside of class. There is no extra credit, no nothing. So if you do bad on the test there is no hope for you. You do the same thing every single day when you come to class. Have a group discussion and then he goes over powerpoint notes. It's pretty boring. I wouldn't reccommend this class to anybody who is not a good test taker.

I did not specify my grade because I just took my final, however I believe that I will get an A. Prof. Musalia is a really nice and interesting guy. I thought this class was easy. There is no additional work required besides five tests and reading a short book. The tests are really easy if you study the notes and read the chapters (you should not have to spend a lot of time studying). Prof. Musalia really wants to engage his students in the class. The class usually begins with group discussion then Prof. Musalia lectures from his PP slides, which he posts on his website. Your grade consists of the 5 tests that are all weighted equally. I would highly recommend this professor and this class!

Statistics is not an easy class, in fact its a terrible class. I am absolutely horrible at Math but passed this class due to Dr.Musalia's instruction.
Dr.Musalia is a nice man. He has a deep accent and it is sometimes hard to understand him but he is aware of this and if you bring it to his attention, he'll slow down down or repeat himself until you understand. The formulas/problems are also very complicated but he takes it one step at a time and will help you if you have any problems. He also allows you to construct a sheet of formulas to use on the tests.
His tests are very difficult. They consist of twenty-five multiple choice questions and one or two large problems. I received Ds on all three tests but, as previously stated, I'm a horrible Math student. Multiple people in the class made As.
He also provides you with the opportunity to complete three homework assignments, that are worth as much as the tests. If you follow directions on the assignments, it is not difficult to get a high grade. These assignments saved my grade.
If at any time during class, he goes on a tangent or off topic about a random, obscure fact or things that are happening in the world, write it down. These are often extra credit questions on the tests and are worth as much as ten points. They are wholly random as one even included a question relating to Seinfeld.
It has been rumoured that if you attend class everyday that he will give you a C regardless. I cannot confirm this since the homework assignments upped my grade but he does take attendance every day. He also said that he will offer "help" with grades for students who do not miss a day of class.
Overall, I was satisfied with Dr.Musalia and would recommend him as an instructor.

He's a good teacher but hard to understand at times. It can get a little boring. He puts all the notes on the internet and the tests are usually pretty easy if you read and study. I skim the chapters and the articles assigned and always do well on the exams. You have no outside assignments other than reading a book at the end of the semester. It's overall a good, easy class.

Dr. Musalia is from Kenya, but he speaks very good English, (sit in the front of the class). He is very knoweledgeable in sociology, and knows his stuff. He mainly teaches by powerpoint, but posts them on blackboard. He has an attendance policy but it is not that bad. You also have to purchase three books for the course. One being a novel that is mainly the final. He is a good professor, and knows everyone in the class. My suggestion...TAKE HIM!!

If you don't read, then you probably aren't going to do that well, but if you read the material and study the notes, you'll do fine. Plus the subject is pretty interesting anyways. This is a hard class no matter who teaches it! I almost dropped it, glad I didn't. Musalia is a very nice guy. He does have an accent , but I never found it hard to understand him. He has all of his powerpoint notes on his websites, so you don't have to worry about writing every single thing down. You have three computer assigments, but he explains how to do them. If he doesn't just ask him, he doesn't care to help! Throughout the semester he will talk about weird things he's heard in the news, remember them. On your first two tests, thats the 10 point bonus. He's final is completely multiple choice. I'm terrible at math and was able to pass this class with a B by going everyday, trying my best, doing good on the assignments, and getting the extra credit on tests. I highly recommend Musalia.

First, I just want to say stastics is hard no matter who you take! Especially for me, I'm terrible with math. I almost dropped this class. I'm glad I didn't! You have three computer assigments and he shows you how to do them. If you have trouble, he doesn't care to help you. You have two tests and a final. I made pretty good on all of my tests because of the extra credit. If I hadn't had that, I wouldn't have done very well. The bonus is soooo easy. During the semester he will talk about weird things he's heard in the news. Listen real closely because that is your bonus! It's worth 10 points!! So, thats a reason to go everyday. Attendence isn't mandatory, but I would recommend you go. He'll help you along with your grade at the end of the semester if he thinks you're trying! I will admit he does have an accent. I haven't had any problems understanding him. If you can't understand what he is saying, he doesn't care to repeat it. I think he is a real funny and nice guy.

I really enjoyed Dr. Musalia's class. It was a big class but he took the time to get to know everyone. We had interesting class discussions and he applied what we were learning to things that affected us as students. Your grade is based on five tests. They aren't too hard as long as you read the material. It's not too much reading. Attendance is not mandatory but I wouldn't miss too much. Some of the stuff he talks about in class is on the tests and sometimes we watched movies that were covered on the tests. Overall it was very interesting.

Dr. Musalia is a very nice man and seems to try hard as a teacher. But, he has a difficult time conveying his message as the material gets more difficult. Unfortunately, the language barrier can be somewhat of a problem and he doesn't realize students can't or dont' understand what he is saying-he even speaks so low sometimes you have no idea what he is saying. Overall, he is a good teacher and wants you to do your best, but he may be hard to understand and Social Statistics is a difficult course so you probably need to work a lot outside of class and with your book.

He had powerpoint notes that he suggests you print off before class and they help. But you do need your book cause you need to read it. He does one outside reading. It is a small 150 page book that is covered on the last test. There is not a final on finals week it is the week before, during your last scheduled class. I really enjoyed his class!!

Musalia is an excellent professor with a great sense of humor. His notes are on powerpoint which you can download online. He also posts reviews for the exams and will post your exam grade on his website for your retrieval. You will take part in quite a few group discussions with your neighbors. You are responsible for all reading assignments on the syllabus, whether they're addressed in class or not, so the reading can get to you if you don't have a lot of time available. The textbook gives you a website where you can get chapter quizzes to help you study for the exams. We had five exams, but no cumulative final--we had no exam at all during exams week, which was great. The tests were not overly difficult if you studied and read your assignments; however, I recommend you not wait to study till the night before if you want a good grade. Always jot down the current events he talks about in class as you may see it as a bonus question on the exam. I highly recommend Musalia.

Professor Musalia is a nice man and he seems like he cares about his students. He loves the subject and has a lot to say about stuff that may seem like common sense. His accent is a little hard to understand at first, but once you get used to it then it's not bad at all.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does take roll at the beginning of each class. If you have perfect attendance at the end of the semester, then he will probably raise your grade to the next letter grade. For example, if you have an 87 average, you'll get a 90!
Notes are on powerpoints on the internet that he made for everyone to print and bring to class, and are pretty much what he goes over in lectures. However, he throws in a lot of additional information and facts that will appear as bonus questions on the tests. He LOVES group discussions so I advise you to sit around people who are outgoing that will speak when he calls on your group!
You are expected to read all of the assigned readings in the syllabus and at the end of the semester you even have to read a 150-page book which takes place in Kenya (since that's where Musalia is from) and it's a little hard to understand for the first 20 pages or so, but after that it's not so bad.
GOOD LUCK!
