Mrs.Waters was a great teacher. You have a small 5 question quiz almost every class, but there easy and from the previous nights reading. There are 4 essays and all of them you work on during class and she will give you help if asked for it. Take Mrs.Waters!

Worst online professor ever. Gave me a complete ZERO on a paper, even though my peer reviewer found nothing wrong with it. It may have gotten off topic, but for a zero I might as well have not even done the thing! Neglected blackboard in the final weeks of class, leaving us with no idea what to do. Also, I missed the final because in the syllabus it says she would announce our last exam just like the other two and she never did, but left a very unnoticeable link up on Blackboard. She failed me because of these two assignments and ruined my GPA. AWFUL TEACHER/HUMAN BEING.

Marya Waters is the nicest, kindest teacher I've met. I had her for english 100 and 200. I remember coming into english 100 not knowing how to take her at first but talk to her she will do everything she can to help u in class. So I definitely wanted to take her for 200. She is funny and will make you feel comfortable in her class. English 200 there is a lot of reading and papers to write each week but she doesnt beat around the bush she lets you know what she wants in a paper. Everything that is on her tests are discussed in class. I would recommend her to anyone.

The class was easy. The only negative thing is i felt as if i were in highschool again. You have 5 papers total, one of them being your final(i really liked this because there was no studying required it was like an on-demand). I did well on all my papers. She allows you to revise them if you make below a 79. I dont think i'm a strong writer and never made below a 85, so her grading isn't too bad. There are quite a few quizes over readings that are assigned almost every class. If you didnt read you were out of luck on the quizes. Class mostly consumed of taking a quiz then discussing the readings, easy to get off subject. I made a B in this class and i honestly don't think anyone made an A. Theres only one test, a grammer test at the end of the semester. Over all EASY class.

Mrs. Waters loves teaching english. But she grades papers really hard just a few grammer mistakes and you receive Cs she does let you revise papers to receive better grades if you want to. you have to read an essay and take a quiz on it the next class. Very few tests all papers in this class. you do a lot of discussion. cant miss anymore than three class of she takes points off your final grade. overall shes an okay teacher to take.

Mrs. Waters is a great English teacher. You read stories and take quizzes over what you read. The quizzes are 5 points and you take one after every reading. Also, over the readings you have to write "thinkbooks". All they are, you write like a open response kind of a thing, its a easy 100 and it lets you know that you are going to do good on the quizzes. Attendance is mandatory but she is a very understanding woman. You write 5 essays, two that are written in class. But she gives you the prompt to write a rough draft with before the class. The 5th essay is your final and it's over the same material that the group project is. So basically you use that information to complete essay 5. She's grades a little strict but nothing harsh. She's easy to get a long with and she was always emailing the class reminding us of essays and thinkbooks that we had due. We went 2 weeks without having class, so the groups could work on the projects. You do have to go to class and write a lot but if you are a good student then she’ll help you out and you’ll do fine, if you try!

Prof. Waters was seriously the worst teacher I have ever taken. I am not usually a student that complains about my teachers either. She gives quizzes over readings all the time, taking very small details out to quiz you over like what color was the guys shirt... and grades hard. Her tests are very random meaning ANYTHING could be on them. She is not very sympathetic and is honestly not someone i think very highly of.

Sweetest teacher in the world. This was probably the easiest most lax class I've taken since university experiance!! I took it as a night class and we never even once stayed the full time. She is easly swayed if the class doesn't want to do something. She does daily quizes but I just read the material a couple of hours before class and I'm just fine. You have to read one book and write one paper, thats it! definitly definitly take this class!

Marya Waters was an ecxellent teacher. We usually had to do a reading every night and had a short (5-6 questions) quiz over the reading material. Having many quizzes helps to improve your overall grade. We had 5-6 essays over the semester, all over simple subject matters. I really enjoyed her class it was always fun and interesting.

DO NOT TAKE HER! If you want to learn absolutely nothing and make horrible grades then feel free to take her. She writes no comments on the papers she gives back, only grades circled. Most of our class made D's on our first paper. She didn't explain or teach us how to do a rhetorical analysis (the 2nd paper.) She does not teach at all. You may go in and talk about a story you read the night before, and then she lets you leave with 30 mins left in the class. I didn't learn anything and ENG 300 is supposed to be the class where you learn how to write huge papers and I didn't. Make sure you pick interesting topics for her to read because if it's not interesting to her, you will get points off. We read a grammar book and that's how I learned how to use some correct punctuation, but other than that, it was a waste.

Marya Waters is a horrible teacher. Some write that she is a horrible professor but she doesn't have a phD so that is incorrect. I hate it when the university hires someone without proper credentials. At the beginning of the semester I could have selected a different professor and I now wish I had. The first half of the semester is filled with busy work and lies. The whole "we'll go to the library so we can work on your research papers" statement never happened. We were left with only two weeks to dedicate to our research papers where the English professors actually allowed for the whole semester. Marya Waters has her head in a bubble full of dreams and fantasies about how her class will turn out. Oh, and if you're not thrilled about mandatory attendance then definitely don't take her class; she takes off 30 points if you miss more than seven days. She is rediculous and I pity whomever takes her next. Some will do well in her class but these people have a natural talent for writing.
Good luck.

This was the worst class I have ever taken. She does not teach her students anything in class. She simply makes you read and take online quizzes and requires three papers to be written. She is an extremely hard grader and does not give students any feedback when they ask for help. She humiliated me in front of the entire class one day by questioning my intelligence and belittling me. Everyone must take English 300, but do not take Mrs. Waters, find yourself a teacher that is willing to teach and help students.

I LOVED this class!!!!!! Mrs. Waters makes literature interesting and fun. We talked about every one of the things we read and I like that we do the quiz every time because it helped me stay on track. The exams are a little tricky if you don't think about the questions but overall its not to bad. She had uys write an essay on short stories and told us we can revise it (she averages the grades together for a total). Take her for English 200!!!! She's very nice and doesnt' mind questions.

Aside from having to do reading quizzes which are lame I liked this class. ANother thing that bugged me was students coming in late disrupting the class. I think Mrs. Waters did a good job with class discussion and pushing us to think about what we read. Analyzing other writers and your own writing is a BIG part of the class. Some people didn't like that because they had to give some effort to think. I'm reccommending Mrs. Waters.

WARNING: Do NOT Take Professor Waters...She's a horrible professor. She's very dingy and easily gets off subject. This doesn't work to the benefit of the students! She changes the syllabus many times throughout the semester without a timely warning. Also, if she asks you a question like "what do you think" or "why do you think that," lie. She can't handle the truth!!! The class is elementary. Example: our class worked on punctation sheets (where 2 put a comma) 4 2 1/2 flippin weeks!!! Are you serious? YES...This class is horrible.

Mrs. Waters is truly one in a million. She is very in touch with the students and I can tell she loves what she does. It is not very often you will find an instructor or professor who will devote extra time to helping a student succeed, but Mrs. Waters definitely will do whatever it takes to help someone out. This was her first semester teaching the course and she did a wonderful job. She made the research composition assignment a learning experience and not dull and boring. Mrs. Waters does not hold my attention at all. Other students in my class interupt her and voice off-the-wall comments about how she looks, or how great a poem is, or how much a certain author may 'suck' and she then voices her own opinion. I can tell that she likes what she does, but her undisciplined way of teaching leaves much to be desired. While this is a 200 level course, expect to be treated like a freshman in high school. Read the text before class (15min-1hour in length) and then you take a quiz in class about what you read. Easy class to sit (sleep) in, but the quizes and tests are at an unspoken (higher than you'd think by going to the classes) standard.
