This class is fairly easy if you take the time to study for it. She does give a lot of notes, and you have to do 8 journal entries for the semester. I really wouldn't have minded the class, but she is very oppinionated and for a sociology teacher she has very narrow views on a lot of her subjects. You will hear a lot about poverty and prejudices among anyone who is not white and also a lot about women's rights. I was very offended on more than one occasion and there were several times that I almost left the class. On top of that she was a first year teacher and she didn't get her strategy down until about half way through the semester. Also you will have no warning for the quizes that she gives, so be prepared. I wouldn't recommend taking her class.

This was definately one of my favorite courses. Ms. Penick's lectures are very interesting and entertaining. She gives lots of evamples and makes the material easy to understand. You do take a lot of notes, and you have to study for the tests if you expect to pass. You also have to complete four journal assignments, but those weren't too bad. If you put in a little effort this class is really easy. I highly reccomend it.
