This class is pretty difficult but if you go over the material with yourself regularly you will do okay. Paquin is a funny guy, but as a teacher he doesn't really explain things as much as you would like him to. He says stuff like, "because a mathematician said so," etc. But, if you have an okay understanding of what's going on you can get an alright grade. Beware of the textbook situation, he will tell you to buy it but I only opened mine up once and it didn't even make any sense. If you take good notes, I wouldn't buy the book.

This is the course I have dreaded my entire college career. Dr. Paquin knows what he's doing and teaches in a very effective way. The only complaint I have is about the tests. The questions on the tests and the examples we do in class are completely different. It is quite difficult to differentiate between what he is actually asking for on the exams. During class, I understand everything very well but this means nothing on test day. There are 5 tests or as he likes to call them "quizzes". The one with the lowest score can be dropped. The final is optional but if you take the final and score higher than your average quiz grades, that is the grade you get in the course. There is also extra credit available through study board. He does not take attendance but if you want to pass this course, go to class!

Dr. Paquin does a great job of making the material easier to understand. GO TO CLASS- all the exams are open note, open book. He gives detailed examples of every kind of problem, which really helps when doing the homework and exams. He is very patient and wiling to explain a concept more than once if a student asks him to during class, and encourages people to come to his office or the graduate assistant's office for help. There were up to 5 extra credit points available through Study Board quizzes, and however many you did were added to your FINAL class grade. This is a difficult class but Dr. Paquin really wants his students to succeed. The class is set up so that even if you bomb the first couple of homework assignments/exams, if you keep working hard you can still pull your grade up. Exams were mostly made up of statistics problems, but there were always several essay questions on experimental/research designs. Final exam is optional but won't hurt your grade if you take it.

DO NOT take Paquin for this class. He didn't require attendance, but you had to attend to understand everything. His lectures were extremely boring because all he did was go through slides and had no other activities or different ways of learning. The only good thing was that he either takes your quiz average for the semester or your grade on the final as your overall grade for the class.

Dr. Paquin is pretty boring in class and has a ton of stories to tell about himself. You take a lot of notes and then you take a quiz like every other week. His quizes come from the book, so if you know the vocab, you'll be okay. He offers extra credit and that's the only way I made an A in his class.

This class is very straightforward. You only take 7 quizzes, your semester grade is your five highest quizzes, and the last quiz counts for everyone. You have to read the book and take notes to do well on the quizzes. If you like your quiz grade, then you don't have to take the final. I already had an A so it was one less final I had to worry about. Dr. Paquin is a pretty nice guy also. There is even extra credit available. I would definitley recommend taking this course!!

Dr. Paquin himself is an awesome teacher...however he has 7 quizzes over the semester and you can drop the lowest one but the tests are over the book more so than the notes. Each quiz is over two chapters and it's twenty questions. So you must read your book to pass this class. Overall I loved Dr. Paquin we had interesting class disscussions that allowed one to better grasp the subject being talked about!

Dr. Paquin is an okay prof. He spends a lot of time telling stories over and over again. He gets off track very easily and talks about things that have nothing to do with the class. The notes are straight from power point. We had seven quizzes during the semester over two chapters. There were no tests. He drops one of the first six quizzes and the seventh quiz is required. Your grade in the class is either the final or your quiz grades, which ever on is higher. I didn't take the final because I had an A from my quizzes. The class is pretty easy. The quizzes are straight from the book, so you have to read the book. I think a grad student even made the quizzes. They are 20 multiple question quizzes.
Honestly, you don't even need to go to class if you read the book. Because he gets off track a lot you will be required for chapters he doesn't cover in class.
I would recommend taking this class if you are taking psy just for a general ed and not a major in it.

I took this class as a nightclass and it was so easy. Dr. Paquin is a good teacher and is able to add his personal experiences into the class. The tests are 50 MC, although if you don't read at all, you probably won't get an A. But he offers up to 6 bonus points on your final AVERAGE if you do experiments. So that helps out alot. He also drops one of the first three exams. I'd definitely suggest taking him!

I think Tony is a good person and if i remember correctly i took him his firest semeser at western. He goes really fast with his notes so dont write down every word. If you read the text you should do fine, I only got a C because I never read a chapter. I really enjoy psychology but he made it kind of boring, I do think he means well though.

Paquin is a cool guy, but his teaching is a lot to be desired. He gives about 20 pages of notes every class. You don't get a study guide for the tests and the questions on it aren't covered in class. You have to read the whole chapter. His stories are really.....unusual. Every topic that was covered in class, he somehow had a story about it concerning himself.

Dr. Paquin is a pretty nice guy. He has lots of stories to tell and evidently has had a really interesting life. Class can be boring, but then again I think psychology is boring in general. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities to help your grade and had it not been for that I would've had a bad grade in the class. His exams are pretty hard, lots of the questions aren't even covered in his lectures, you really have to read all of the chapters assigned and just study everything to actually be prepared for an exam.
