Mark Graves is the sweetest man and one of the best teachers that I've ever had! He's always in a great mood and is willing to help you if you need any help whatsoever. Every now and then he lets the class out early, which is a plus. You have about a quiz every week but it's online and not timed and you can use the text book and your notes. It's impossible to do bad in this class! I recommend taking this class if you're looking for an interesting, easy class!

This class was good, other than the fact that the homework and quizzes took up a lot of time!! But i always made a 100% on the guizzes and the homework then a 60 on the test!! But im a horrible test taker, and his test are made harder. Attendance isnt mandatory but you get extra credit for it! I never missed a day and got like 15 extra points! Hes great and funny but im sure someone else is easier to take. --i didnt have to take final because i was happy with my grade--so its not mandatory--

Mr. Graves is one of the sweetest men I have ever met. He tries his hardest to make class entertaining. He is very understanding of things. Lets you out early if he's done lecturing, and cancels classes just because. His tests are straight from the notes, which are straight from the book. One assignment is due a week, on blackboard, and it is just reading a section of the book and answering questions.. It typically is about two pages. The exams are easy. He wants everyone to succeed in his class. All powerpoints are on blackboard. Attendance is "mandatory" in the sense that if you have less than 3 absences during the semester you get 20 extra credit points at the end.

I absolutely loved Mr. Graves. He gives you a quiz over every chapter that you read and also gives little homework assignments that you have to put little effort in. His tests are exactly like his quizzes, with just a few questions that are different, and are very easy. As long as you read your book, take a little notes, and do your homework, you will get an A.

Graves is a great professor! I highly recommend him! ALL of his notes are available on Blackboard in slideshows. I suggest printing them off and taking notes on them during class. His tests are exactly from the slideshows. If you take notes on them, and look them over you should do fine on the tests. He's pretty funny at times. He is very lenient when it comes to homework. All in all...if you are taking psychology, take graves. Easy class.

I love this course. It's super easy. There are five tests and an optional cumulative final. Attendance is not mandatory, but you do get bonus if you miss no more than three days of class. Studyboard is required (it is in every psy 100 class), and if you finish this early you get bonus points. Tests are all multiple choice and he gives an extensive review a couple of classes before the test. STAY FOR THESE!! Mr. Graves is great and I would defintely recommend taking him.

I have never had a nicer professor than Mr. Graves. He spent the first two classes periods giving his life story (explaining how he got paralyzed) and it was very interesting. The class is super easy. You take notes off of a powerpoint every single class period. so it can get pretty monotonous, but it's worth it for an easy A. he is very funny, or tries to be (usually corny, haha)
the tests are completely multiple choice. there is no other homework. you don't even need a book. i haven't used mine once.
i recommend this class if you want an easy one with a nice professor.

Graves is an excellent teacher. He kept class entertaining and was always conserned about his students. The book is not really required, but might boost test grades from a low A to a high A. I read for the first two test and made very high A's. The last two I didn't study at all for and made a low A and a B. There are 5 tests, and the lowest grade is dropped, therefore, if you have the grade you want in the class, you do not have to take the final. There are also 6 quizzes worth 20 points each and the lowest is dropped. If you complete the studies or article reviews required by the university in the first month of class, you recieve 10 bonus points and if you miss 3 days or less you recieve 12 bonus points. It is very easy to make an A in this class and not be bored to death.

This was a great class. Prof. Graves is the most genuine teacher I've had here at WKU. He's a great person. He's in a wheelchair and will tell you his story the first day of class. He explains the information well, and also provides a PASS teacher that gives you all the answers before the tests. The tests come strait from the notes and you don't even have to read the material because only 2 or 3 questions come from the book that he doesn't cover. There are tons of extra credit opportunities, and get your research credits done EARLY!

Dr. Graves was an AWESOME teacher! He really wants to help his students! The notes come straight from powerpoint and really the test are definitions. If you know the material you will be fine, he won't try to trick like most professors by putting stuff like, all the above or none the above. It's either you know it or you don't type tests! The final is not manditory, if you are satisified with your grade you do not have to take the final but if you do decide to take it, it's a cumulative final and he does tell you it is not easy! I recommend Dr. Graves for Psy. 100, it's an easy course and he is a very easy going guy! And as far as extra credit goes, all you have to do is go the research studies early and you get 10 extra credit point and also if you miss 0-3 absences you get 12 points added on as well! There are 6 of them, 50 multiple choice questions, but if you do well, you don't have to take the final. If you miss 3 or less days, you get 12 extra credit points at the end of the semester. Every day you come into class you will take notes from power point, unless it is a test day. All tests are mulitple choice. He gives you plenty of time to copy all the notes, there are just a lot. He gives a little review before each test to help you sift through what notes to study. The tests are a little harder than I expected, even though a lot of people say the class is easy, you really do need to study a solid couple hours to get an A. He offers some extra credit. If you miss 3 or less classes, then he will consider a final grade of an 88-100 an A. don't miss class cause it is annoying copying all the notes you missed. You don't have to read the book to good, but if you want an A, you're almost gonna have to. He's a really cool guy though and has been through a lot.

If you attend class, take notes (which will be everyday except test days), and attend reviews (these are during class time) you will pass with flying colors.
You don't need you text book because of all the notes you take. I have attended every class and review session (he tells you directly from the test what you will need to study), i've reviewed my notes before tests, and as a result have received either a high B or an A on all tests.
The only complaint i have for this class is that Dr. Graves has on a few occasions slipped his opinion in where it should not have. He told his students to vote YES on the marriage ammendment the day before the 2004 election, which was highly unethical and could have cost him his job. Another example of his unethical behavior happened when he was reciting notes over Freud's Stages of Developement. When telling of the last stage of developement (Genital) he said that this stage was when a human being is attracted to the OPPOSITE sex. He stated this as if it was part of Freuds' theory. Dr. Graves did not state that it was his on opinion.
I was angered greatly by Dr. Graves' deceptive attitude toward his students.

This class was a breeze. Professor Graves is somewhat of a pervert though, i've got to warn you. He once told me he would flip me over his knee and spank me because I didn't do an extra credit assingment. But he is a really nice guy and his class is VERY easy... I highly recommend him

Mr. Graves was a great professor. He wants to help all his students. He'll tell you exactly what to study for a test if you stay for the review, and he gives plenty of opportunites for extra credit. You do have to take quite a bit of notes, but you also learn alot from him.

He is a great teacher, the tests are pretty easy because he gives you a review which is straight from the test. So there really shouldnt be any reason to fail the test. Yeah there are a lot of notes but hey, at least you dont have to buy the book! But other than that the class is GREAT!

Mr. Graves is the sweetest man and an excellent teacher. All his notes are on the overhead and he thoroughly explains them. For the tests make sure you study hard b/c they can be challenging to remember 2-3 chapters worth of information. There are a lot of extra credit points you can recieve if you participate in some Psycology labs.

Mr. Graves is a great psychology teacher, who knows his stuff pretty well. He makes the class fun and interesting with his jokes, and he is just all around a great guy. He is willing to help whenever it is needed, and is never sarcastic about it. To get an A you do have to keep up with the notes, but as long as you do that, you will be riding the A wave all the way through. His final is not mandatory, but it is cumulative if you choose to take it or miss one of his tests. I would definitely recommend Mr. Graves.

Professor Graves is an AWESOME teacher! He's funny, and he really enjoys what he does. He gives quite a bit of notes, but they are on the overhead, and thats what you need to know for the test. He tells you to read the chapters, but there aren't but maybe 5 questions on the test from the text. I would recommend Professor Graves to anyone having to take Intro. The other thing is, while attendance isn't mandatory, if you have 3 or less absences then he gives you 10 extra points at the end of the semester. He takes attendence EVERY DAY by sending around a sheet w/ everyone's name on it. Don't try to cheat by putting your friend's initials on there if they didn't come to class, b/c he counts the # of ppl in class, and checks the list to make sure they are the same! He's a nice guy, be good to him!

On some chapters we would take notes the entire class periods, others he would post them on the internet to be printed out. The note-taking is well worth the easy 50 question multiple-choice test. If you do well on first 6, the final is not mandatory. If you take all 7, lowest is dropped. He is truly one of the most inspirational and funny people i have EVER known or even heard of. take this class!

Mr. Graves class wasn't real exciting. It was, though, very easy. He takes attendance everyday so it's to your advantage if you go to class. He will round your grade up to the next letter if it's within two points if you haven't missed more than 4 days. All you do the whole time during class is take notes from the overhead. It definately is a waste of money to buy the book, although I think next semester the psychology dept. is getting new books. I think Mr. Graves is going to change the way he teaches a little b/c of the new books. He gives plenty of chances for extra credit....most of which is pretty easy. The tests aren't really that easy, but the extra credit makes up for it--and then some. If you like your grade, then you don't have to take the final. Mr. Graves is a wonderful person....and he's pretty funny sometimes. This is an easy A as long as you put some time into it.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO PASS THIS COURSE IS SHOW UP AND TAKE THE OVERLOAD OF NOTES. DON'T, I REPEAT DON'T BUY THE BOOK, I DIDN'T AND I PASSED THE CLASS W/ FLYING COLORS. IF YOU MISS 3 DAYS OR LESS HE ROUNDS YOUR GRADE UP IF YOU HAVE AN 88, 78, 68 ETC.IF YOU ARE SATISFIED W/ YOUR GRADE YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL. HE IS A GREAT GUY, BUT HE ISN'T HE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD. YOU HAVE TO STUDY THE NOTES HE GIVES BUT HE GIVES YOU A REVIEW AND THAT IS THE TEST.

OK it seems as though a lot of people get good guy and good teacher confused. He is the nicest guy and all that but really not a good teacher. All you do all day every day is take notes straight from the overhead which come straight from the book. And then he just reads them and gives an example if you are lucky. I really was interested in Psychology and looked for a lot more in this class than I got. If you take good notes don't bother buying the book. If you are looking for a class where you can just show up for the tests (there are 5 plus the final if you wish to take it) and read the book, take him. If you actually want to learn something don't take him. Enuf said.

Lot's and Lot's of notes. Don't bother buying the expensive book. You'll only use it once. Just ask to borrow another persons book. You take a huge amount of notes. But you are given the chance to get a lot of extra credit. He gives out extra credit like it's going out of style. Anywayz, Mark is a great guy and a true inspiration. His tests are pretty easy. I got a C b/c i didn't study much. But if you study the terms in the notes, your bound to get an A. Honestly. Mark is such great teacher. Take him. You won't regret it!

He is a terrific teacher. You take notes, but that's all you do... he puts them on an overhead everyday and while he talks you copy them down. The final is comprehensive, but you don't have to take it, it's optional depending on your grade. He gives tons of extra credit and is always in a good mood. I would recommend him to anybody.

The test are so easy and even if you fail every test you can still get a B just by extra credit. I highly recommend taking this class. Mr. Graves is an excellent instructor and a very nice, helpful, and considerate person. The only thing you do in class is take notes from the overhead while he explains them. There is alot of writing, but I got used to it, and I think it helped me remember the material better. He does an excellent job of explaining things. Tests are straight from the notes, so if you go to class and study the notes you'll do fine. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Another great thing is that if you are happy with your grade at the end and you haven't missed too many days you don't have to take the final. I loved this class and I learned alot from it.
