I love Dr. Daday. He made the class was interesting. Yes, he did tell personal stories, but they related to real life situations all of us face. I WOULD LOVE MORE CLASSES WITH HIM!!! He responded in detail on the papers which were required. Truly a great teacher.

Dr. Daday has a great energy that makes this class interesting. There are quite a few notes but they are essential in doing well on the exams. He also posts the notes on black board so you don't have to worry about killing yourself writing so much. He does give you a chance for extra credit on quiz points (make sure you do every quiz, it make it easier come exam time) and other ways. When in class listen for his personal stories because what he says in class may be on the exam. For example, if he tells a story about how a cop acted in New Orleans listen to main points because it may be on the exam. There are also projects to do but they are pretty easy. Dr. Daday wants his students to do well in his class so he makes it as easy on you as he can. But, it is up to the student to determine the grade they want.

Daday is great! I would recommend taking him every chance you get.He is really funny and he really knows the material. He is really good and explaining things so that they are easy to understand. Being a research class, it can get dull, but what college class doesn't?! You do have to study hard for the tests but they aren't so bad at all. The projects are cake, and the online quizzes are pretty easy. You have one quiz per chapter covered and they are all available to take on blackboard the start of the semester, so you can go ahead and get them all out of the way (which i would recommend!)

Jerry Daday is an interesting individual with a sometimes odd sense of humor. Any class that is taught by Dr. Daday will not be an easy one. He expects you to read all of the assigned materials, which is where the weekly quizzes come from, (~ 20 questions on Blackboard) Attendance is semi-mandatory but well rewarded. There are three random days in which he will take attendance throughout the semester, if you are present for all three occasions you will receive 20 extra credit points at the end of the semester. There are three exams in this class, taken on blackboard. The exam questions are composed of approx. 40% reading material and 60% of the questions will come directly from his lecture. There is a mandatory, cumulative final that is worth 35% of your final grade. When I say cumulative I mean cumulative. There will be questions that were covered the first day. Dr. Daday makes the class as interesting as it can be considering that it focuses on sociological research methods. He doesn't take any bullsh*t from anyone. If you want to make a point in class be sure that you have the facts to back it up. Rest assured that he will have facts and lots of them.

Daday is an OK, he makes it clear on the first day of class that he is an athiest, which is mildly disturbing, but rarely brings it up in class. He makes the class sound alot more difficult than what it really is, the weekly quizes are not bad. There is a ton of notes, EVERYTHING is on black board as far as tests, quizes, and papers go, no notes. Class is mildy difficult but ya gotta take it.

I took Jerry Daday for an online class this summer and it was fantastic. I was a little worried because it was my first online class, but he was great! He always emailed everyone back very quickly, he was very organized about everything, and I never had any problems with technical details (i.e. something not getting submitted, links not working, etc.). I read the whole book and watched all lectures and did well on the quizzes over each chapter. As long as you do the work, you'll be fine. I was worried about the final, but it turned out to be the easiest of the tests. The only reason I didn't get an A is because I made silly mistakes on the last test. I highly recommend this as an online summer course, but I still think he'd be just as great in the classroom.

Dr. Daday is most certainly an awesome professor! He is very enthusiastic about his subject and he will keep you engaged in his class. There is not a textbook for this class, but there were a few books we had to read and a few books he selected a few chapters from. The work is not overload and he grades fairly easy on papers as long as you hit the main points and give evidence. His tests can be tricky if you do not study, but if you study and read everything and pay attention, they are fairly easy. Being an honors course, what he does differently in this class other than a few more readings than a normal intro class, he has made it a discussion based class. It may seem hard at first, but once you speak up and make a comment each time, you will be fine. He covers interesting topics and he is all around a helpful and nice guy, not intimidating at all. I would recommend him ten times over for an intro class because he knows his stuff and he will teach you what you need to know, especially if you are a soc major.

There are a ton of notes and he rambles about topics that he enjoys, which happen to be the boring parts of sociology! You have 5 papers to write. They are over a major sociological topic, 3 novels, and a reflection piece. They are easy A's, as long as you turn them in on time you are pretty much promised a 100%. It is an okay but before you take him I would try to get another professor

This class was very interesting, however, I would not wish to repeat it. He grades on participation, so make sure to speak in as many classes as possible, he keeps track! Also, TAKE NOTES! Take notes on EVERYTHING! It will be on the tests! The tests are the hardest part of the class. They are multiple choice, but he will ask the most random questions about things that you never thought would be on it. As long as you take good notes, and STUDY your notes, you will do fine on the tests.
You will have to read several books and write several essays. I do not know of a single person who didn't get a 100% on the essays. He grades them very easy. Which is very good, because that's how you make up for bad test grades. The class discussions and topics were very interesting. Although, sometimes I felt like he stated his opinion as fact and also made it seem like white people are the cause of all the world's problems. But I guess that's sociology for you. :]

Dr. Daday is a great professor, and I loved this class. I changed my minor to Sociology because of him. There are three exams, and they're easy if you actually paid attention to his lectures and study for them. There are however three novels that are read (which are annoying if you are busy reading for other classes), so I advise to start on them early when he mentions that you will discuss them in class soon. There are five papers you have to write, most of them being over the books that you read. They aren't bad at all though, and he grades easy on them if you actually know what you're talking about.
He doesn't use a textbook in the class, so take notes, because he also doesn't post his slideshows on blackboard! Attendance is also mandatory.
Overall I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Daday!!

The honors section of the course was one of my favorites in college. Dr. Daday is an engaging professor and interaction with your peers makes this class makes attending a joy. You have to read four books and write papers on them, but they are not so difficult and the papers require more personal figuring than academic citation. A recommendation for any student.

Had victimology in winter term and loved it. The class was hard in the sense that it was a winter term class, and there was so much material to cover. I loved the setup of the class as it was more of a roundtable discussion, with Dr. Daday guiding the class, as opposed to a standard lecture. I really wish that this course would be offered in a full semester so that we would have had time to really go into depth and absorb all of the information, instead of having such limited time.
Dr. Daday has been great to me since I've returned to school after a year off trying to decide what I wanted to do. I have learned more from him in the few classes I've had with him than I ever did from any other prof. He always has an open door policy, and even if your not a strong student, if you show the effort that you want to learn, he will make sure that he gives you all the help you need. Definatly take Dr Daday in any course that he teaches.

As far as the companionship between Jerry and his dog I hope they both live long and prosper.

I seriously have to debunk and non concur with a previous student's comment. Professor Daday teaches this class with unquestionable passion, Criminology is not easy being that it features so many sub sciences, and incorporates theory, rhetoric, quanatative/qualatative relationships, biology psychology, ETC. Many students took advantage once they learned we had online notes, but those notes were only SUPPLEMENTS to the material. he only required a 60% attendance policy for the class as a whole (that's 6 students per every 10!!) I walked away from the class smarter than i walked in, i was so enthralled by his presentation and ind-depth knowledge, I PAID FOR A WINTER TERM W/ MONEY I DIDN'T HAVE. Excellent professor, and a real class act. And I will gladly state that Raymarrius Brown is grateful for professors who go above and beyond their call of duty to ensure student sucess!!!

I thought this class would be great but I was rudely surprised. The test were hard, he was a jerk in class, he often used profane language costantly on a daily basis. He was always saying things about me when I would say stuff in class when he asked questions and got it wrong. He often made me the butt of his jokes. Students came in late and were able to turn their quizes in but when I came in late and tried to turn in my quiz he didn't except it. He has no need to be teaching this class, he has lost it. He is wack and needs not to teach this class anymore. He's an over paid pompus a**hole who needs to walk his dog more often. If I could hate anyone it would be him. I hope his dog bites him and gives him rabbies!!

Personally, He is a very nice individual. Professionally, his teaching stinks. He refuses to help you after class, and makes you feel stupid if you do ask for help, Real Stupid. Not very cool in my book. Lectures are all powerpoint, with no handouts and lectures are very monotoned, sometimes you want to poke him with a stick to get a different pitch during lecture. Biggest thing, all test are essays and he contradicts himself on what he says he wants on the essay for an answer, therefore killing your grade. He is a very nice Young individual with a PHD, and I think he thinks he knows it all. But his teaching skills STINK. Have fun and take someone else. sorry.

He "LOVES" research and it shows through in his teaching of the subject. I highly recommend him for any of the classes that he teaches. He rewards attendance by having a grade for it built into the points system (100 pts - if I remember correctly.) There are some assignments which have to be done outside of class - 12 in all - but, you can choose to just turn in eight or do them all and your 8 top scores count. Awesome class...Awesome Prof.
