Professor Reiss' class isn't difficult material, he is just a difficult professor to please. Good writer or not, Reiss will challenge every paper you write. Especially, if you have ideas or opinions that differ from his. You will write several papers and read alot in this course. Reiss is boring and does not make class too enjoyable. The only good part about Professor Reiss is his twice a class references to smoking pot and that he is about a hundred years old, so there is a possibility class could get cancelled due to his death or Alzheimers.

Reiss makes this class difficult. Overall, the course material is fairly simple, but the way that Reiss grades is awful. If you think you're a good writer coming into this class, Reiss will have you questioning your skills. He does let you re-do your papers if you make less than a "c" and gives extra credit at the end of the course, so those are some positive notes about him. He's an older man that has a voice that makes you want to fall asleep in every class. I would not recommend Reiss to anyone that is taking Eng 200.

This class was pretty easy but it does require quite a bit of homework. He gives you a sheet at the beginning of the semester of what you have to read every night. You have to keep up because he requires your participation in class. He is an easy going guy. If you just do the reading you should be fine and the test will be easy.

Anyone who wishes to receive an A for English 200 STAY FAR AWAY from this CREEPY, PREJUDICE guy. Girls especially need to watch out because he is sexist and prefers male dominance in all aspects of life. Every piece of writing discussed has a sexual conotation and he is always right, even when he doesn't know what he is trying to say. This class ruined my 4.0 and all becasue I was a girl. Several times I confronted him about his grading methods between women and men and all he had to say was I quote..."It is what it is..."

Mr. Reiss is the worst English teacher I have ever taken. I would not take him. PLEASE do not take him. Every poem he reads has a sexual reference. He is so strict when grading papers. He took my paper down an entire letter grade for one sentence fragment. He is horrible.

He was an okay teacher. Hes an older man so some of his views I was annoyed by, and he kept making references to the Bible which is okay, he just sort of pushed religon alittle to hard in that class. He's very interested in poetry which also got on my nerves b/c if you dont like it then he kind of calls you out on it. Overall the class was easy, he goes over all the material in class which he translates into test questions, you do cards on some of the material and he grades it solely on punctuation, spelling and grammar. So if you can do those things you'll be fine.

Hey this class was not really hard when I took it in Fall 2004. But I wrote an evaluation on this bastard then and I was just following up to make sure no dumb ass took his class still. Let me tell you he was the rudest jerk teacher I have ever meet. He sends out rude remarks and trys to make you time in his class more diffcult then it has to be. So you have to take all his shit and for what you don't even learn anything. So beaware of this crusty old man!!!!!!!!!

Reiss was a good teacher. People may think he's strict, he's really not. He really knows the subject and teaches it well. He's only strict on grading essays. Reiss maybe a tough, old goat, but he knows what he's talking about.

This class was sooo much work! Much more work that should be required for a course like this. After every test we had a take home essay that was worth 150 points. He also grades the papers very hard and worries about grammer WAY too much. This class was very miserable and the final test over poetry was hard. If I hadn't have did the extra credit I would have had a bad grade. You can come out of this class with an OK grade but you will work very hard!

Okay, this guy is an overall jerk. I know students in the past have said he's great but apparently something changed because he is rude to everyone in the class, he doesn't help you at all and he's extremly content with just letting you fail. In fact, he's told several people that if they don't like writing about violence against women that he'll just fail them. He makes you spend a month writing about a murder that happened on campus and doesn't even consider if that might be a problem for someone, emotionally. STAY AWAY from this guy's class, total and complete jerk.

This is probably the easiest class ever, except I didnt like Dr. Reiss. He is very pro-womens rights. Now, I dont have anything wrong with that since I myself am female. But, I just dont agree with having to spend a month writing papers on violence against women. We had to write a summary on the Katie Autry murder case, several papers defining what exactly violence against women is, and our final was even centered around violence against women. When the class started he told us that we would be writing papers on the topic and I was okay with that at first, until I realized that we would be discussing the topic in excess. Then it was too late to drop the class. If you are prepared to spend every class moment discussing the topic, then go for it. (Also, Dr. Reiss is about the age of my great-grandfather, oh wait, my great-grandfather isnt alive anymore.)

Please do not take this man! If you are in the Greek society DO NOT take this man. He is prejudice. His translation of the literature is sexual in nature and I feel that he thinks females are inferior. For most of his class I felt completely at his mercy, because I would research my papers, take them to the writing lab and still get a D. He even accused me of cheating and asked who I paid to write my papers. I guess he just really is into the Greek stereotype. I got the first C I ever had in his class! This man is ridiculous!

I would not advise anyone to take Mr. Reiss. The class is boring and you do not learn anything. If you're not up to date on semi colon usage your best bet is to learn. He will count off for everytime you do not use semi colons where needed. Correct spelling, grammer, and punctuation are required for his class, these catogories will make or break your grade.

Mr. Reiss is an awesome teacher. He gives some small reading assignments out of a grammar book but you dont have to read them because he goes over it the next day in class. The only assignments he gives really are papers and they are very easy to write. Most of them are 2 pages and they are double spaced. The other ones are shorter than that. You get like a week to write it then you bring it in class and peer evaluate it and turn it in the next day. He is very friendly and this class is easier than any english class i had in high school.

This class can be easy as long as you do the readings before you take the test. Attendance is MANDATORY but there is tons of extra credit. He doesn't grade to hard on the papers, as long as you show improvement each time and watch your spelling. His tests are very straight foward and if you listen to him in class he gives you all the answers. I would take him again.

This English class isn't too bad. You have to write quite a few papers and make sure to read all the poems, stories, etc. Mr. Reiss assigns. He gives quite a few opportunities for extra credit. When you're in class be sure to have read the assignments because he remembers everyone's name and will call on you when you are in class. The tests are't too bad as long as you have read all the stories he has put on the study guide.

Mr. Reiss is a laid back enjoyable teacher. I'm not even much into Lit, but he makes the class definately passable and seems quite interested in what he does. I do believe that since we are all adults here, the poems he reads with sexual references should not be regarded as "perverse" comments by Mr. Reiss. Maybe those who think so, should more carefully read the poem and they might see the references as well.

Everything Reiss teaches is taught with a sexual flavor. He can turn Dickinson's poems into "an orgasm". If you respond to any of his questions, you are always incorrect.
